Has anyone received an Optimize Visor for the Minstrel S from Handspring lately? I placed my order back on 11/5 and its still on backorder. I was inform that I should get a exchange unit within 48-72 hrs. Call again today and its still on backorder.

Exchange Program

I "ordered" mine on 11/17. When I called yesterday, I was told that they had a computer glitch around that time and it would go out in the next few days. Heard rumors about backorders, so I called back today. Was told that the Visor Deluxe Ice were, in fact, on back-order for a week or two more. They couldn't give me another color because it's supposed to be an exchange.

I called mine in on the 20th, and they said today that it would go out next week, but we all know how these things can go. I'm glad mine at least still works!

I talked to two different customer service reps this week and they both said its still on backorder, because they are burning a new OS on rom. I read various post on possible OS 3.3 & 3.5 updates, so I'm not getting too excited about a new OS until I can see it in my own hands. Who knows maybe Christmas will come early this year.

Does the optimized VD exchange apply to modems purchased through OmniSky and YadaYada or only those purchased directly from Novatel? Is there a coupon in the modem box? Thanks.

the coupon comes with the yadayada at least (i can't speak for omnisky)

now about the xmas coming early bit, I just hope i get an optimized visor before christmas period! i've talked to support 3 times in two weeks, now they're telling me they're on backorder etc, won't see it for at least 2 weeks, maybe longer. They say it's because of high demand, well duh, if you admit that there's a problem with the VDX you better well have enough to exhange!

I like my minstrel, but I'd like to know whether or not an optimized would make a difference in performance. As currently mine acts flaky sometimes. I don't know why handsprings users are subjected to such support nightmares,the handygps thing, initial vdx rollout, initial omnisky-minstrel rollout,prism/platinum graffiti problems, cracked cases, etc.
