Or, maybe the folks claiming the Edge is not worth the extra $$, aren't the same who said they WANTED a metal case. But, for what it's woth, SOMEWHERE on this site there is a thread in which quite a few Visor owners not only made it clear they would love an after-market manufacturer to produce metal cases (someone does it for the Palm III) but they even NAMED THEIR PRICE!Anywhere from $150 to $250. So, let's see: a VDx is what? $250? And you're willing to pay, say, $150 for an aftermarket metal case... huh... look at that, you just paid $400 for a metallic Visor Dx. NOW (for the same price) looks like you can get the Edge with that metal case for the same proce BUT, thinner, faster processor, with other features yet to be named, and apparently a new SD slot. Hmmmmmm. You asked for it, you got it, Toyota!

Anyone that would pay $250 to put a metal case on a VDx is either insane or needs to give me some of the cash they are burning.

Actually it would be a platinum ($300) with a metal case ($150-$250) and a heck of a lot thinner (priceless).

accually

Whats up with the 250 ? I have been through the previous posts about replacement casings and no where does anyone anywhere say that they would pay $250 for a metal casings. No one is that stupid. The jist of the discusion on replacing the plastic casings with metal is that its just not worth more than $100. Of the people looking at manufacturing replacements they are all looking in the $100 price range. But then again personally I dont like anything that cant take replacable batteries. Without a longer battery life, rechargable batteries are useless on the road unless they can be swaped out and no palm device with a metal casing has user servicable batteries. So what would be the point ? Myself .... I am gonna go with a platnium and get a metal casing for it. Maybe not as thin but all my old accessories will still work. Whats the point of spending $400 if I have to spend another $100 to replace a perfectly good keyboard and case ? To each their own I suppose. I like carrying around 2 extra sets on rechargables incase I cant get home for a while and dont want my visor to die before I can get home.

Thumbs up

Well...consider Platinum at $299 plus a metal case ~$100 is extactly the price of the Edge with the added bonuses of a thinner sleeker look and rechargable batteries.

So all in all for those people that raised an uproar when they found out that the Platinum was actually plastic and the same size as the Deluxe...your wish has been granted!!

i agree Fat_Man, for the same price sleeker design, but i have to agree with Bane in the sense that the Stowaway will no longer work and then there's the 'sled'
