Question

I am currently using Lotus Notes 5.0 for work and MS Outlook 98 at home. I want to syncronoze between the 2 of them.

1. Is there any software that will allow a visor to be synced to these two programs?

2. When I upgrade to MS Outlook 2000, will this program still work?

I know this maybe a tough question, but any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I have been looking around and found the Pylon Pro 2 software, does anyone know if this will work for me?

I just installed Easy Sync (latest release purchased directly off the Lotus website - $56.00) for a client - I can tell you it works fine with Notes 5.01b.

Intellisync would have been my product of choice since it supports conduits between various client software (I have setup syncs between multiple apps before with it, but not this particular configuration - I trust it *should* work, but until I actually do something I am reluctant to offer comment) but they do *not* have a solution for Notes 5.x at this time. They told me it will be about 4 weeks until that happens. A few issues to keep in mind with Easy Sync:

Easy Sync supports a conduit between the Palm and the users *local* address book, not the servers. Although in theory one could change the pointer to a shared directy on the Notes server, Lotus didn't recommend this solution - and I don't blame them. One screwup by someone and your entire servers address book would be fried. There may be other issues as well (file sharing, etc.) that I am unaware of.

I have read reports of Easy Sync installing hidden files that renders other hotsync products inoperable. Check some of the newsgroups for more info on this if you run into problems (i.e. www.dejanews.com)

I will be testing the Intellisync solution as soon as it becomes available so I'll post back and let you know how it goes. I will be testing a sync between Notes, Outlook and ACT.

If you don't need to sync mail you should check out TrueSync from Starfish. They have a Notes accessor as well as an Outlook accessor and it's all free.

I currently use the Outlook, Yahoo and Palm Desktop accessors all together and it works great.

You can download it from Yahoo.

Could you please post a URL for TrueSync. I could not find it on Starfish's web site.

Thanks,
Ed

Cool

Bregent, you are the greatest. I tried True Sync on my Outlook machine and it worked. I plan to convert the Lotus Notes maching this weekend.

THANK YOU!

Great. Let us know how it syncs to Notes.

To be honest, a few months ago I tried to get it to work with Notes 4.6 but gave up after about 15 minutes. Everything reported OK during the sync, but nothing transfered. I gave up because I really didn't need it; we use Notes at work but I don't use it much for scheduling or contacts.

The TS Notes accessor seems to be more complicated than the other accessors, and has a few options I wasn't familiar with. I'm sure it was just a matter of tweaking things to get it to work. Good luck.
