I have now had my platinum for almost a month and from the beginning I thought that the backlighting left something to be desired. In the last few days however, I acquired a green visor deluxe and the backlighting on this blows the platinum away. Is there any difference between the backlighting on the two models or should I try another platinum in the hopes it is better? Any input on similar comparisons would be appreciated. I will admit the platinum has a writeright on it but I am refering to the overall brightness.

Thanks in advance...

Make sure and adjust the contrast after turning on backlight. This may help.

Unhappy

I appreciate the feedback but this doesn't help. The deluxe is much brighter with any setting. A little left of center on the contrast bar on the deluxe is about equal to max brightness on the platinum. I like both units but even without backlighting the deluxe has a better range of contrast than my platinum. Trust me, this is not what I want to see but the difference is dramatic. I think I will exchange my platinum today before my 30 day return policy is up where I got it.

Yeah, I'd recommend that.
The screen's "supposed to be" improved, w/16-greyscale, too. But I have read postings contrary to this supposed "improved quality."
Give it at least 1 more try, I guess...
