I'm interested in all this talk of hot-syncing by IR, but my PC doesn't have an IR port.
Does anyone have a good IR port (USB if possible) that they liked?

I investigated this (After deciding to get IRlink, for its auto hot-syncing).
The webpage for the organization that manages IR is irda.org. They have links to manufacturers, most of whom offer serial adapters for IR. I think there are some PC cards also. I don't know of any USB.
The cheapest Serial Adapter I've been able to find is the JetEye PC Adapter at buy.com, $41.95. I couldn't find anything really at pricewatch.com.
Maybe someone out there knows a better solution? I'd definetly buy a USB version if someone knew where to get one at a reasonable price.

If you are using a desktop, I don't think you need to worry about IR sync. USB is good enough. IR sync is convenient for notebook -- you need not to carry the cradle, and, many many notebook computers have IR port.

Why get an USB IR port? if you have a USB port, use the cradle...

I plan on using a Rhodiana case and would prefer the IR sync simply so that I don't have to take the Visor out of the case every time.
If that is not an issue for you, then use USB. The USB method of syncing is MUCH faster than Infrared! I haven't done a serial vs. IR test, but even serial seemed faster than IR.

What about using the Lego Mindstorms IR tower for PC IR hotsync...?
It's two way, it's serial but apart from that I don't know if it's possible....
