This is another sign the end of the world is near. (Adults only, please)

Technology has advanced to the point that we have the incredible Internet and can even squeeze tiny cameras into small cell phones. So what do people do to showcase these achievements?

Without further ado, I bring you a website devoted to voyeuristic photos of derrieres.

These miniaturized cameras have opened up Pandora's Box and pretty soon there will be ZERO privacy in public. What do you do when everyone has a 3 inch cell phone with 100 X zoom camera, Night Vision, parabolic microphone, video camera, and the ability to automatically transmit images/videos to the Web? I predict the Digital age will become the Voyeur Age within two years. Truly creepy.

I think I remember hearing about this in Sunday School when I was a kid. (Revelations 69, Verse 3.)

Funny? I don't think so. I think it's pretty sad that in a year or two everywhere you go someone could easily be recording everything you do or say and immediately post it to the web. And there's not a lot privacy laws can do to stop this, given how anonymous the Internet is.

Do you really want perverts photographing your kids at the park and posting it to their sites? What about cameras in bathrooms or changing rooms at the gym? Technology has opened up a huge can of worms and I don't think people realize what a major invasion of privacy we're going to be faced with very soon. It's one thing to have to deal with the annoyance of idiots shouting into their cell phones everywhere you go these days. But having your privacy violated by any deviant that can afford a ("free") camera phone is an entirely different matter. I hope lawmakers make an example out of a few people early on to deter what may become pure chaos.

Many places don't allow cell phones in at all anymore just because of these reasons. A friend of mine works at a YMCA out west, and they don't allow cells in the building at all now...mostly to keep those little cams out of the changing rooms.

Except it's impossible to ban them everywhere. And as they get smaller and smaller, they'll be easier to conceal.

I think a lot of the points made about the privacy intrusion are indeed valid. I'm not sure there'll ever be a way to fix the situation.

Cheers.

That's true to a certain extent. However, the site mentioned is not really that bad. What is worrisome is the possibilities he mentions. Some of them can be really disturbing, and should be considered more than just in jest.

Cheers.

I really really like the states that are putting people in prison forever for having child pornography on their computers. I think they should extend it to taking pictures of children in a manner that would appear to be sexual in nature (ie a little girls bottom).

I don't like adults being photographed in such a manner without their permission, but to do so to a child should indeed be criminal.

Now for the outcry from the pedophiles out there.

People should just start leaving the house under the impression that there's no expectation of privacy when you are in a public place, like a shopping mall or something. Just wear clothes that you don't mind other people seeing you in and you should be fine. Camera phones in a locker room, though, is completely different.

Well said. At the mall, that's not terrible, in the locker room, very terrible. I've known people to wrap a shirt around their waist to hide their butt in public. Perfect solution there. My guideline is that if you are in a place that a child of the opposite sex can see you then it's fair game for picture. This is my rough definition of a public place.

As for people taking pictures of children, people get the idea of an sleezy looking old man doing it. However if a little old lady were doing it, or even any female, you'd probably be more apt to think it was for a local newspaper or something not sleezy.

I hate to say, but you've been able to take pictures of children for quite a few a years if that was your inclination. A camera phone doesn't make this any different. In fact, I'd guess the people that do this would use something better than crappy camera on a phone and something more on the line of a spy camera.

Of course for pointing out this, I now will have 600 people thinking I'm some sort of pediphile or person who doesn't appreciate privacy. I'm sure I'm more concerned about both than 90% of the people on this board, and I've been here since the first VisorCentral days.

Roger that. Double entendre, anyone? I think I'll go have a double gimlet. And stir it with a double-edged sword. Quietly. Yumm.

In Japan this has become such a problem (usually men taking upskirt shots of girls) that they do have stiff fines, etc. for offenders. The thing is people have to be caught in the process.

I'm afraid we're in for a deluge of poorly focused behinds, and worse.

It's bothersome and tacky, but hardly the end of the world. Stupid people do stupid things and stupid people like to see stupid things.

If you catch someone sneaking a shot at your rear, pull a Sean Penn on them.

I was in Tokyo this summer and took tons of pics with my Canon S400. Did lots of street-level hiking and took tons of crowd pics. It never occurred to me that people might be a little wary of a dude with a small digital camera. But with that sheer crush of bodies, I can imagine what some people try to get away with.

Here's me:

Here's one of many street shots:

And here's the closest thing to a racy pic I took the whole time. Well, really it's two pics. You have to look at both to get the contrast: innocent girls with ice cream versus an interesting "vendor" keeping shop in the building across the street. That's Tokyo!
