Can a monochrome Visor take color pictures? I got the impression from the review that only a color Visor can take color pictures. That is bad, considering that the em1 could take color pictures on a monochrome device.

Monochrome Visors will only take monochrome Palm-size pictures. VGA pictures will be monochrome on the Visor but will be in color when you HotSync them to your desktop.

Question

I have a question: If the Eyedropper doesn't require the EM2 to be on the visor to function, and the pictures from the Eyedropper app can be used with Eyecontact, why aren't EM1 users being offered the Eyedropper also as a download, or even as a for-a-fee option?

I was very disappointed that the new updated Eyecontact could not be used to view color thumbnails from a EM1, and the Eyedropper would fill this gap. But I would rather NOT pay for it, as I already paid $150 for a very low res camera, and feel Blocks should provide the software for free to EM1 owners if possible. Anyone agree?

You mentioned something in the "con" section about not being able to store databases in flash memory. From what other people are saying (in the E2 available thread) you can save the databases on a flash module or CF adapter module. Apparently you can also transfer them to your computer via a CF adapter and use other programs to convert them from the database format.

Hmm, I couldn't find where in the thread someone got it working. All I know is that I got a fatal exception after moving eyemod2 and its dbs to flash. I had to reinsert my TM+ module to get it working again.

How about moving it to flash for storage and then back to onboard memory to use it?

Hi Dave,

I just moved my burkeVGADB file (it holds ALL of the vga photos in one file) onto flash memory. I could still use the eyemod2 program to view them. However, if I remove the flash, and reinsert the EM2, I get the same error James talked about. So, yes, you can do what you mentioned.

I suppose it was mostly hypothetical, but it seems to me to be possible to:

rename the databases to be able to store multiple versions on a CF card.

use a CF card reader to transfer them to your computer.

use third party tools to convert the EM databases to individual pictures:

posted by Ash There are some third party tools that can do this. I think there's a Perl script and a Python script that can extract the contents of the eyemodule .pdb files into image files.

And then the discussion was interrupted and I was forced to defend my favorite fruit company .

BTW: this info is from halfway down the 4th page to the top of the 6th. Sorry for not narrowing it down before, I forgot how big the thread was.

* I just thought of something when reading about the USBfilmover in the news. I bet a version could be made for the E2 where you could transfer all of the databases off of a CF card and have it convert them for you.
