Question

i'm not sure what it is, but you're site is running MUCH slower today and yesterday (Feb. 14th and 15th). I browse through dozens of sites a day and they fly on the screen. Something about the visorcentral site is really slowing it down on my computer. I'm not sure if it's the ads or anything else.

I'm not using a modem, LAN at work. So i'm not sure what the problem is, considering the speed with which every other site seems to be coming up.

Thought you should know.

I don't think it's the ads. I'm blocking all ads and it's still slow for me on DSL and my work LAN. Maybe it's a DoS More than likely just a server problem.

If possible, could you mail me your traceroutes to VisorCentral?

[email protected]

That will help me figure out if it is a network or server problem.

Also, please let me know if we pick up speed again. The site's average bandwidth for the month so far is 216kb/s, and today the average was 219kb/s (with plenty on bandwidth left on our side), so I think the issue might be with one of my upstreams.

Thanks,

Marcus

2 questions:

1. how do i get these 'tracer-routes'? to email them to you.

2. how do you block the ads?

Just do:

tracert visorcentral.com > c:\visortrace.txt

and the trace file visortrace.txt will contain the trace route that you can cut and paste into an email.

Having the same problems with slowdowns. Didn't understand how to send you the tracer test. It does seem to be slower when the animated banner adds flash on the screen.

Oops, sorry. Type it in from a command prompt. Click the Start Menu, Click Run... and then for NT type "cmd" without the quotes, on 95/98 type "command" .

Another way to get the command prompt is: Start->Programs->Command Prompt

Doesn't work when you're behind a firewall. Today has been really bad. I've had to wait up to 5 minutes just for one subject to show up. Yesterday wasn't nearly as bad but it was still slower than normal.

Talking

Seems like your back to your normal speedy self. Just don't get too popular or one day a disgruntled Visor user will go DOS on you.
You know the guy he waited 4 months for his visor to ship, it came with out the hotsync cradle, he scratched the screen on the third day, noticed the case was cracking on the fourth day, spent 5 hours waiting on hold for visor customer service on the sixth day and finally filled up all 8mbs of his Visor with games on the seventh day.

I dunno, it's still taking 1+ minutes for each page to load. I think there's still a problem somewhere between me a VC. Anyone else still having problems?

Hmmmmm...

I thought only I had these problems. It seems that it's getting better now, though (Feb. 17). But still other sites are *much* faster. I guess I will try a traceroute later...

I'm experiencing 1 to 2 minute load times on my 56k dialup for the past 1 or 2 weeks. Thought it might be my ISP and/or connection but after reading this I'm not so sure. I was thinking it was those banner ads... I know they're a necessity, but...

Anyway... does seem to have slowed considerably lately...

Thumbs down

The site is still running like molasses. It took about 4 minutes to get the screen to post this reply. It has been almost unusable the last few days with many "Transfer Interrupted" messages cutting off the posts.

Please keep me posted on any continued slowness. For most people that I have been in email contact with, the problems have eased up.

SSSSSSSSSSSSLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW!
Why does it take SO LONG for each page to load? It makes it very hard to use the forum!

Please give this the attention it deserves!
Other than that, this place is great!!!
