Writing data to SIM card in Visorphone?

I just ordered the Visorphone and am curious if you can write data to your SIM card. This would be nice, as I have a GSM phone with SIM card. When I don't want to take my Prism with me or will subject the Prism to harsh environments (construction sites), I will simply pull out the SIM card and insert it into the other phone.

Sure would be nice if my addresses were on the SIM card. I know there are some memory limitations to the SIM card, but even putting your most frequently used numbers on the SIM card would be nice.

Your insight is appreciated.

Mike

The visorphone comes with a SIM card app that stores your speed dial entries in the SIM card. It's just names and numbers, though.

Thanks for your reply. Just the speed dial numbers? Well, I suppose that is better than nothing (up to 50 speed dial numbers, right?). Names and phone numbers are perfect (don't need addresses, etc.).

Yes, the app displays your speed dial entries and lets you copy a selected entry or all entries to the SIM card.

Most SIM cards hold up to 99 enteriers. Some others can hold up to 199...it all depends on the type of card.

I have never successfully done this SIM card copy on the visorphone. When I select the SIM phonebook application I get "please wait" indefinitely.

You might take that up with Handspring, because it works for me. (Although I wouldn't consider this a "must have" feature, and you may not either. I don't have another phone to which I could transfer the SIM card.) I get "please wait" only long enough for the data to be fetched from the SIM card, then the list displays.

If there are NO addresses on the sim card, the first time you access the SIM Phonebook application it locks the visor. The resolution is to go to "myvoicestream: web page, create a single address entry and send it to your phone via "OTA" over the air message.

Once the SIM card has an entry then the sim phonebook application works fine.
