Has anyone hacked a GPS Springboard to get the direct ASCII info (so that I can write my own application)? Or, has anyone connected a Palm to a non-Palm GPS unit and successfully gotten the data? all help is appreciated!
Thanks, casey

I am not sure if this is what you are after but. I have the Magellan GPS companion. If I load the Map Companion software and choose the GPS from the menu option. Then choose initialization. The longitude, latitude, and altitude are displayed. At the bottom of that screen is a box labeled messages. The numbers that scroll across the messages box appear to be the data from the GPS module.

the magellan gps companion is NMEA compatible, so if you get the spec on NMEA you could write your own program without having to do anything with the gps itself.

Here's a little number....
NMEA Mon
Usage : connect the PalmPilot to the NMEA device with appropriate cable and launch NMEA Mon. A tab for each NMEA sentence received will appear, click on sentence to view.
