Yes you can !!!!!
OK, word is that OmniSky and VDX do not mix...OK, OK, I admit there is some truth to that.... HOWEVER, the issue isn't entirely with OS3.1...
Truth is you can use OmniSky and your VDX and here's how;
1) You need an RF "optimized" VDX...if you have an older VDX, paster Handspring, they will exchange your "old" for "new" for free....
2) Buy Blazer...the browser from Handspring. You see, the part of OmniSky that IS NOT compatiable with OS 3.1 is their browser...
3) Get an OmniSky modem and set up your account. After activation....just blow through the "fatal error" messages and "resets" get into "preferences" "Modem" and "Network" and set up your OmniSky account.
4) Once done and your modem is registered, to use, just turn on your Visor, insert the OmniSky modem (at this point you get a message telling you upgrade to Platinum), tap "OK" and then activate Blazer. Blazer dials in and "voila" you are online. You can use all sites that are not heavily Java scripted and the Blazer proxy server does all the heavy lifting for you.....
5) To log off hit your drop down menu, "Options", "Disconnect"...then back to your main applications menu and shut down. Then remove the OmniSky modem...."look ma" no resets, no fatal errors...just wireless surfing. Have fun!!!!!
