I ordered two sync cases and I'm going to keep my order (and take advantage of that 30% discount). My husband has the magnetic closure case for his Ipaq and it's very nice, sleek and convenient. I had a snap closure Vaja and I like the magnetic closure better.

Question: the e-mail from Vaja suggested that SOME of the cases weren't meeting standards, so they were designating them all non-sync. Do you think that means they will distribute them as is, with slits in the bottom for syncing that may or may not work -- or will they distribute magnetic closure cases without sync slots? Just wondering...

Unhappy

Just received my Vaja Prism "syncable" (or not) case this morning... boy, am I disappointed.

The case I received doesn't look like it will ever be able to sync in the cradle - which is fine, considering that they retracted their claim of sync-ability.

Unfortunately...
The fit of the case is poor - the leather around the sync opening is pouching/puckering; the fit at the lower corners is baggy and bulky; the plastic over the keys is pouching; the cutouts for the microphone and charging LED don't align well; the reset hole doesn't align at all with the Prism reset switch (it's completely covered); and the screen opening is shifted considerably to the right.

And, changed from the original Vaja Visor cases, the openings for the stylus and infrared ports are deeper than before - this leaves the top edge of the screen opening more vulnerable to flex (I've already managed to crease the leather, inadvertently, when inserting my Prism).

Sorely missing my Vaja VDX case after upgrading to the Prism, I ordered this case the moment it was announced. Sadly, I will be returning it this afternoon - perhaps exchanging it for the snap-closure case (or, maybe, holding out for another solution). :-(

I just got mine also, but did not have any problems. Mine even synced on the first try. I could not be happier, got the sync to work and also got the discount. The leather around my sync port fits perfectly, I don't have any puckering at all. Sorry to hear that you received such a bad case.

mattp,

Which leather did you choose for your case? I'm anxiously awaiting my discounted, hopefully-syncable case from Vaja!

heidi_g,

I chose the plain black on plain black. I couldn't be happier with my case. I wonder if the other leather selections are thicker or different in some way and could be causing problems. I hope your case turns out to be syncable also.

Unhappy

I got mine today, and I'm kind of disappointed too - same concerns as LizB identified. The fit is quite poor at the bottom of the case, and it doesn't come close to being synchable.

The one I ordered is kind of glossy brown leather. The leather is nice, but the fit is really a disappointment.

What I do plan to do is let my Prism sit in the case over the weekend, to see if it will mold itself to the unit if its left in for a while. If not, I'm sending it back.

After I read Liz's post, I ordered an EB Slipper case so I could compare them. It also came today. The leather is no where near as nice, but the fit and finish is pretty decent. I'm leaning towards keeping it, and sending back the Vaja.

I asked Vaja Customer Service if they would be offering the discount on the 834 that is not really syncable, and here was their reply:

"the discount concerns the orders made by thinking about the 834 case as syncable, all customers aware of the 'un-synch' fact don't deserve it. this is an assumption of responsibility nothing else. it's not about any
promotion."

I told them that if this was the case (no pun intended), then they really should update the product description on their main PDA page...I checked a few hours ago, and it still had not changed...still says that it is syncable...

Just wanted to give everyone who is thinking of ordering a heads up...

Cheers,
Chris

I got mine yesterday. The glossy brown leather is truly beautiful, but the fit is disappointing. I've been manipulating and massaging it, trying to reduce the puckers and trying to get the cutout to move into place over the reset hole. However, I was wondering if, over time, it will mold itself to the unit as VTL hopes. My husband has a Vaja case for his Ipaq and when he got it, it fit poorly. Now, it fits like a glove.

Has anyone experienced this transformation with their Vaja Prism case?

I sent an email to Vaja complaining about the fit (I wanted to return it). They responded within 24 hours, and here's what they said:

hi vincent,

there are two things to consider. one is that the leather need some time to stretch and fit perfectly the handheld. it's necessary to insert it al the way into the the case with a little effort at first attempt.
second is that this case was not relased as syncable so it must not fit in the cradle, it just can be used with the travel charger. now, if you let the case stretch and it still doesn't fit as it should, then we'll replace it.
and if you nonetheless want to return it, we'll make the refund.

thanks and regards,

Yanina

So far, it hasn't worked, but I only left it in for a day or so. I plan to take them at their word, give it another week, and if it still fits poorly I plan to return it. Other than the fit, it's a really nice case.

Dianeholly,

You said: My husband has a Vaja case for his Ipaq and when he got it, it fit poorly. Now, it fits like a glove.

How long did it take your husband's case to fit like a glove, days, weeks, month?

thanks,
Rock

Talking

Thought I'd better give an update on my Vaja 834...

After finding out how much it'd cost (UPS quoted approx US$40) to ship it back to Argentina, and knowing that I'd never be happy with the E&B case (after having abandoned my first for a Vaja VDX), I decided to keep it.

I've since spent some time working with the case, trying to improve the fit by getting the leather to stretch in the right places.

The reset hole still is nowhere near aligned, and the other cutouts are still off. But... -miracle of miracles- I finally managed to get the case/Prism to sync in my USB cradle. (I've yet to manage a sync in the serial cradle I use at the office, but I'm hopeful...)

I suspect that I'll have this case fitting perfectly at the precise moment when VisorPhone and VoiceStream finally hook up - then I'll be wanting a Vaja for that combo......

Red face

I too am disappointed with the fit of this case, especially since I got a Visor Deluxe case as soon as Vaja started selling them. The Visor Deluxe case fits like a glove out of the box, while the Prism case looks baggy and the synch hole is puckered. I am able to get it to synch tho, so I think I'll wait and see if it does the "Levi shrinks to fit" dealie . Anyway, thanks for reading my post !!!

He says it took about a month.
My Prism has now been in the case for two days, and it does fit better. I'm willing to give it more time. But it's hard to imagine that it will ever be able to sync. We'll see.

I KNEW it!
The VoiceStream deal was announced today and -poof- I'm looking for a Vaja VisorPhone to replace my very-soon-to-be obsolete Vaja Prism.
