Question Anyone willing to help with YadaYada setup?

I received my YadaYada Minstrel modem today, and of course, there are problems. I called the magic YadaYada number only to have an answering service take the call. I was informed that a tech support specialist will call me later about the issue. I expect to hear in perhaps a week, so I was hoping that if any of you know enough about setting up the network, I'd love to hear from you. [email protected]

What seems to be the problem?

I may not be able to help you, but I'll try. My YY modem worked fine just out of the box...I guess I was lucky.
Many times, it's an IP issue that only YY can help you with.

problems...

Mike,

Thanks for offering to help - well, I can't get anything working with the server, and I think it may be because the modem is not registered. When I go into the Minstral program, there are the three boxes that are supposed to be checked (Cellular Signal Present, CDPD Service Detected, and Modem Ready Registered). Well, the first two are checked, but never the third. If I try to visit a site, I get a server error (0001212) and if I try to get email, I get a similar error (no server). Any ideas?

I have that problem too when I have a weak signal. While you're waiting for YY's help, try your modem in different parts of your town. Maybe there will be a stronger signal somewhere else than where you're currently trying from.

Sometimes I drive around just to see what kind of signal I can get on my YY modem. There are some sections that have bad reception. I lose all the check boxes, and ususally when they recover, the last box is the last to come up.

That's a simple solution that you can try. If that doesn't work, hopefully YY can help you in the morning.

I know you must be anxious to get on with using your modem. I love mine!

Mike
