I think we've resolved the issue, and Jeffdewber has begun to learn a lesson similar to what I learned.
Overall, the person using the device makes the decision on whether their device is "dead" or not. For some people, their PDAs can live long lives, while others ditch their old PDAs for new ones. No matter what, a PDA can never really "die," because it's life is in the person who uses it and in its usefulness for that person. It can only die in the hands of that person, according to his/her view, because its life and usefulness still exists... yea...
