Red face

I just installed the new stowaway driver yesterday and used the keyboard for a little while last night. This morning, my batteries were dead (showing 0%, although the power did turn on), and Runtime showed more than 9 hours of runtime (yesterday, before installing the driver, it showed only about 2 hours). I am using NiMH batteries, and the total runtime was consistent with normal usage, but I didn't really use it that much (only about half an hour, at most). Anyone else have this problem? (I am running some hacks, which posed a problem installing the driver; but all was OK after I turned them all off then back on again.)

Question same problem...???

I too have noticed this problem. I have not been able to localize it to the new Stowaway driver (which I am using as well), but I have noticed that my Visor will not auto power off all the time. I was running JackBack every night and noticed it several times not shutting off when it was done (I would run it at 3AM). So when I sent to use my Visor in the morning it was still on and the batteries were severely depleted. Usually after a soft reset the auto off worked again. Is this the same problem that you are seeing Teleski? (definitely gots to free the heel!!!) I have not done much else to diagnose the problem besides turning off the automatic backups. I may try the old driver again after reading your comments.

Thumbs up

I think I had the same problem, also after installing the new Stowaway driver. I wrote Handspring, and they suggested a system reset (press UP button while inserting a pin in the reset slot). After I did the system reset, I did a soft reset to reinstall my hacks (and actually get the keyboard driver to work again), and everything has been fine since.

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only person having this problem.

Yes. That's the problem. I did a little more experimenting, and I think the problem (or at least part of the problem) lies with a conflict between the stowaway driver and Afterburner. I will ask the author of Afterburner about this issue and report back

[Free the heels, and the mind will follow. Sadly, ski season here in Virginia has come to an end.]

More details

After further investigation, I can offer some more information on this problem. I will try to alert the authors of the conflicting programs to see if they can or will address the problem.

The power-drain problem occurs when certain hacks are active, and after the keyboard has been used (just installing the driver does not cause the problem). Once that happens, the Visor's auto-off feature seems to be disabled, and the Visor will remain on until the batteries are depleted. The problem occurs for me when any of the following hacks are enabled: Afterburner 3.0t, FindHack 3.0, Padlock Hack 1.5. I have no problem with other hacks, including Battery Level Hack, MiddleCapsHack, NoClick, and McPhling.
