If you ordered on 9/14 then we've been waiting a month...only two more weeks max according to Handspring...

However, after reading some other posts I can't help but start to wonder. They have to have quite a few of these things already made. I mean they just have to with all the demos sent out and the ones they gave away and used at IW 99. Someone posted in another topic that a CSR said something like 5,000 or so had been ordered. I'd go along with that...sounds reasonable. But if thats the case then they at least have 500 or so already made, even more you would think. If so, ship the damn things to the first 500 people who ordered. That would be the best thing they could do. Because then those people will get one and then come out here and say "Yes, finally, I got mine!" and tell everyone else that it won't be much longer etc ...

But instead we wait...and we wait...I know they are going to keep their promise and ship in October like they have said all along but its late and I want my Visor!

I'm in that camp as well. But I'm a little pissed at having to wait 2 more weeks!

Same here.

I'm patient, but it would have been a lot better to see more official announcements.

A disorganized organizer company.. ahh the beauty.

The clock is ticking and I am hoping that those of us who placed an order on Day 1, before any reviews were available, will be rewarded with a shipment in the next few days.

I also ordered on 9/14, but I have a different take on this. I think that's exactly what they are going to do, ship the first units next week. Some CSRs have been quoting an early next week ship date. Tuesday will be five weeks since we ordered and Handspring has said they haven't had any manufacturing problems, Jeff Hawkins even said that it would ship yesterday. I take it that means the first orders will ship near the low end of 4-6 weeks (28-42 days). The date he announced was day 29 (10/13), we're on day 31 (9/14 being day 0), if it shipped on 10/29, that would be day 45. My guess is day 36 (10/20), but even if they shipped on the 20th some people on the east coast wouldn't receive theirs until about two weeks from now, while those of us on the west coast will receive ours one or two days after shipment. That could be the source of the two-week date.

P.S. Nick O'Teen: Spare us your condescension. You know you want one.

but nonetheless i want it and i want it now :-)

and i'm a memeber today :-)

My word, is this what I think it is? Is Handsprung loosing his patience? Finally! The Messiah joins the ranks of his followers! Just kidding Handsprung, but when I first read your post it sounded a bit like you were starting to act like the rest of the people here, "A kid waiting for santa" was the best description I saw...

Cool

I resent being called a fanatic I much prefer Zealot I have reached the stage in the game where I avoid the topics where people do nothing but complain. If I want to here griping I will turn on c-span and watch the House of Representatives. I ordered mine with express sipping from day one because I know of my inability to wait.

Keep the peace
Bryan

I too ordered on the first day. I'm sure it won't be long now. Didn't Alan Bush say that thier warehouse was filling up?

Personally I think that they have their shipping tied to the ordering system, which is down, so they can't ship at this point but will as soon as the system goes back up. This would tend to jive with the statements we've read from Hawkins and Bush. They intended to be shipping, but the system went down. We can't really blame Handspring for that one. I for one have worked on systems which SHOULD have been stress tested but we opted for one reason or another to test it live and take a chance.

It showed some signs of life yesterday so maybe real soon. All we can do is cross our fingers, Be patient and wait. It will be alot easier to take if we take a tip from Handsprung and try to be positive. They will ship soon.

BTW - My credit card had a "Hold" inquiry for $1.00 yesterday. That has only happened twice in the past (that I've noticed) and that was when I odered something online and they wanted to verify the credit card was live. This doesn't mean this was Handspring, but I hadn't used that card that day, so maybe.(I can hope can't I).

As always
My Humble Opinion,
Bill

BTW - Handsprung, I stand corrected, I'll shut up now, but it was refreshing.

I just called CSR to change my shiping to overnight, I ordered 9/16/99, he told me it
was too late as all orders from September have just started shipping and will be completed by Monday, and that I should be receving my order any day now.
I hope he is right, anyone else hear about this?

Hey, flguy, I thought this topic was only for the "true fanatics who ordered on 9/14"! Anyway, I ordered on 9/14 but didn't specify overnight shipping. When I found out about that option, I didn't change it because I didn't want to get "bumped" out of line! So when you Californians start getting yours, holler real loud so I can start counting the days until mine gets to Tennessee!

I'll go along with you Handsprung, the only excuses we've heard so far is that they are waiting for the online ordering system to come back up. Well, what in the heck does that have to do with shipping?? They have been telling us for almost 2 weeks that the first orders have been sent to shipping. Well??? So call the UPS truck! I'm sure 'Elroy' on the shipping dock would love to get all those boxes out of his way. Come on guys, enough with the 'Flim-Flam' and get these things moving.

I spoke with a CSR yesterday and I asked if product was in stock.. she
said "Oh, yea"... and I then said "Well.. why aren't they shipping NOW or last week ?,
Whats the hold -up ? She said to me.... and I quote.. " We are wondering the
same thing ourselves."...... You gotta love it !..

Does anyone know what good reason there is to having stock in the shipping area
but wait weeks later to ship ? I would think they would want to ship those
puppies ASAP to generate cash flow...

Allrighty kids, I really think were gonna hear from someone today or Monday for first arrival, its a gut feeling and I'm usually conservative... BTW for those of you on th east coast who expect them 10 days later, please, I have a home offcie and receive UPS every secon day (in Canada too), once the truck is on the road, there's no stopping it !

Now, make some visual exercise: "Imagine a warehouse worker witha crumbled piece of paper in his hand, its written on it Molecular, Montreal Canada, USB cradle Blue DLX" He takes it, puts in a box, dumps it in the truck, with all his passion and courage, looks at the trucker and says " have a good one cowboy, make sure you get home on time"

aaaaaaaaahhhhhh I really need to get this hahahahha

microman,

Handspring is probably not shipping because they want to ensure the visor's continuously ship after they start. It looks worse to the public if they start shipping and then they stop. It discredits their ability to manufacture the visor to the demand of consumers. However, if they ship later and create a surplus of inventory, they can reduce shipping times for future customers. Hopefully, by then they will have their fullfillment process working better.

I'm in the same boat with everyone. I ordered mine on the 14th too...

I finally broke down and called last night. I was on hold for only 15 minutes. The CSR couldn't find my order in his database so he looked in his supervisor's database and found it. All my info was correct. I ordered on 9/22. He told me I should receive it not longer than two weeks. I clarified that and said "I will RECEIVE it no later than two weeks?" He said "Yes". Can't wait.
