A long time ago, I got an AquaPac for a GPS which fit my Palm device. It's a sort of thick baggie with a seal at one end. I used it on a trip on Long Island Sound. You can indeed work through the plastic, although it's a bit difficult to get Graffiti to work through it.

I have done research, 318 is a valid patent. I also found a MR.Bozecks who's been using the product since 1988!
Anybody else have any comments?

I remember Mr. Bozeks he purchased several packages of screen protectors.

Please don't turn this into another patent forum... warman and his multiple identities are just full of hot-air (not to mention something else that I can't write on this board ). I'm sure if we keep the dicussion on topic Warman will go back to his fishing hole.

Anyway, thanks for the reply "argent". I have not encounter any digitizer problems when I loosen the screws. Recently, I found that I could skip the loosening of the screws step, and just slide the sheet under the visor's plastic rims. The sheet protector material is very thin and slide easily in.

ConceptKitchen and Fellows could have challenged my Intellectual property long
ago. Why haven't they challenged it. I'll tell you why they have no chances of prevailing the
challenge. Their challenge is approximately 80-90% in my favor and 10-20 % in their favor.
If my intellectual property is unenforceable then why haven't they challenged me!!!

Over on comp.sys.palmtops.pilot the folks who make the non-adhesive protectors... NuShields, I believe they are called... tell us that you're harassing them too, and their product clearly wouldn't violate your patent even if it were valid.

What intellectual property are you protecting there?

In a sense this is "on topic" since the AquaPac is made to protect not just the screen, but the entire Visor, right?!

I ordered one just prior to a vacation where I knew I'd be on a beach by a lake. As for as I know TotalCase is the only outlet in the US through which the case can be purchased. I had tremendous problems dealing with the company in that it took several emails to get the case, even though they had charged my credit card three weeks before my first inquiry! Once I began asking what had happened to the case I got a couple of "it's just been sent" replies and was finally told that they had no record of my purchase! Since I had kept ALL of the email correspondence (including their original receipt to me) I was able to provide this to prove that I had actually purchased the thing, at which point they became incredibly curt in their email, but at least the case finally arrived (three days before I was scheduled to leave!) So, there is THAT caution about dealing with TotalCase - if you order one from them stay on top of the order!

As for the case itself, it performed splendly. Once I got the hang of "setting" the carry string the holders, I was able to get the Visor in and out easily, it was easy to write on and use, and the waterproof qualities were flawless. I was able to carry my Visor around with me and use it whenever I needed it without the least problem. One obvious point, though, if you need to do a reset, you'll have to take the Visor out of the case. I noticed that in the review, James had his Visor in "head first" so that you could just pick it up and have it facing you. I tried that at first but found that it didn't quite fit in the case just right, so I put my Visor in the way the case was designed for it. No problems - AquaPac is a great case for the specialized situation. Good luck!

Infringer. Mark if you continue your B.S. I can post the letter. Do not lie to these
people. This is only an effort on your part to boost your sales of a product that has

Wrong! The note I received from your attorney said that "as presently advised" i.e. YOU TOLD HIM that I was infringing. My letter to him was never replied to, so I am left with the impression that your attorney must agree with my position that we do not infringe. Anyone can read your patent and come to the conclusion that a screen protector that does not rely on adhesion does not infringe a patent that requires adhesion in the claims. Further, we are always improving our product. And you are correct, our latest version of NuShield screen protectors uses a custom designed film system and are completely free of "Newton rings" . We never needed to "get around you" since we never infringed on your patent in any of NuShield's versions.

This entire discussion is off-topic and does not belong here. I, for one, will not continue this and hope you do the same.

This subject should not be in the off topic area. This is directly on point. Just because you do not like the conversation does not mean it should go to the off topic area.

The "Newton rings" prove infringement. Also Claim # 9 "without an intermediate
adhesive layer therebetween"
You need to read the claims a little better.

"a thin, flexible, transparent film of polymeric material of generally constant
thickness having a major surface portion completely in direct
contact with
and releasably adhered to the outermost major surface portion of
the face
plate without an intermediate adhesive layer therebetween.
If your product does not touch the screen then how does it work?. The x - y
positions would not pick up or input into the instrument.
