Question

I tried and registered SilverScreen, which is an applications launcher. It's a great launcher, and I really like it. It uses the Palm's grayscale ability to make the icons look better, and provides an easy access trash can with drag and drop for deleting unwanted programs.

However, if I set the contrast on my Visor Deluxe to a setting that is decent with the grayscale "calibration" within silverscreen, I run into two strange occurances. 1) You can see the viewable screen square as it is now slighly darker. Not a horrible problem, but it exists. 2) Whenever I bring up menus or dialog boxes, the vertical lines in them "extend" past the menu/box in a slighly lighter shade of gray, but still very visible, and from the top to the bottom of the screen. When my contrast was in the default middle setting, I didn't see either of these.

Is this something I should expect due to the LCD screen, or is there some way to handle the problem?

Thanks for any info!

Hey binkley..

I really like Silverscreen aswell and i've noticed the same thing. I hear that installing the OS upgrade on the Handspring CDROM that came with your visor should take care of the extended lines problem. However, i'm still trying to decide if i want to do this myself. There is a string, http://discussion.visorcentral.com/...TML/000710.html that discusses the OS upgrade adn it appears that some people have had problems while others haven't. I've been sitting on the fence with this for a few days...if you try it, let me know how it works?

question: you registered your Silverscreen, any other advantages besides the use of other 'themes'?

Hoser:

The benefits of registering are simply that the software will maintain your settings, and will be upgradeable with other themes in the future (so they say). Plus, I figured it was only $12.95 for such a cool tool, so why not? I love having the trash can and other drag and drop tools, plus the grayscale icons.

Exclamation

I installed the Palm OS update. Didn't fix my problem. I installed the Hackmaster hack Streak Fix. Didn't fix my problem. Neither seem to have caused any problems, but they haven't fixed anything either. So, I disabled the streak fix.

There's gotta be a fix for this. If it can be fixed in Palm devices, it can be fixed in the Visors!
