This MUST be new!

Noah Pro support for the memplug!

http://www.memplug.com/3rdparty.htm

Only problem is, you need 5200k to install. I can't bring myself to move 'everything practically', off of my Prism until I get piDirect.

But, I wouldn't mind living vicariously thru someone else if you've got the room!

Maps, Dictionary, Thesauras, Translation reference, SplashPhotos,
YUP, YUP, that would do me on my memplug....for now.....

Reading the installation instructions, it looks like you only need the 5200k for one thing: syncing the database to your visor, then moving it to your memory card. If you have a desktop smartmedia reader, you can copy it directly and bypass that.

Otherwise, just delete enough stuff, copy the database to visor then memplug, and sync the deleted items back to the visor.

[EDIT]
It works! I renamed "wn_ex_full.pdb" to "Wordnet ex full.pdb", and used my USB reader to copy it to the 'PALM' directory of an 8MB card. Started Noah Pro, it spent 15-20 seconds caching records, and it runs just fine. It does take up 1MB of memory after caching, but it's worth it, since I can throw away Wordlist (716k), and now have a complete dictionary available without losing nearly everything else. Now if only Mapopolis would add Memplug support..

I've always considered myself a word lover (read dictionaries for fun since I was a kid, and I always keep several etymology dictionaries handy). However I'm in a quandry: $19.99 seems steep for a Palm OS dictionary program, short of a Palm OED. But after looking into the smaller ones, and trying some test words, only the largest of the Noah databases is of any real interest or use to me.

For those NOT as interested in words, but who want a pretty good dictionary Noah Lite, which is free works fine with MemPlug and PiDirect.

Has anyone tried Noah Pro and it's largest dictionary on the MemPlug, with or without PiDirect?

i use noah pro and would like to say that as of about 2 weeks ago, they've pissed me off. i paid $20 for the software and though they've updated the software to 2.0, they've told me they'll "eventually" mail me a link to upgrade. wtf? why are they making their registered users wait?

if i were you, i would not register this software till they smarten up.

How does Noah Pro compare to the New Merriam-Webster Dictionary Springboard? I am not talking about any price issues, or technical issues like the advantage of memplug vs. dedicated module. I just mean as dictionaries go, which one is more complete, and what features can they use? Can either of them be used for spellchecking from within another application (like wordsmith)? Is there any difference in the quality or accuracy of definitions in the two dictionaries?
