Fatal Error

I have encountered this error message in the past on my VDX and VPL. Some SW that you installed recently must have caused it to happen. To get rid of it, I had to hard-reset the visor and I am glad that I purchased the Backup Module.

Unhappy fatal error

So, I just upgraded from a deluxe to a prism and tried to use my backup module to transfer my data. I now have a fatal error (memorymgr.c, Line:4359, Free handle) on my prism and no hard reset will correct the problem. (I have tried with and without backup module)

HELP!!!

Another intersting note is that with this fatal error message - I cannot turn my prism off and there is no simply pulling out the batteries!

Fatal Error

Each time I turn my Visor Pro on, I get an error message.

"MemoryMgr.c,Line:4359, Free Handle"

I have to reset, manually, to get the machine to work. If I turn the thing off for even a second, I get the same error message.

I have tried System Reset twice with no resolution.

I have tried Hard Reset three times with no resolution.

Here is my most recent sync log:

I am getting no help from Handspring, and I am worried that I might have to buy a new PDA. I would appreciate any advice, especially any that would prevent me from tossing this unit.

A few things to check:
1) stuff between the screen and the frame - screen protector, dirt.
2) all buttons working?

These two factors prevent Hard Reset. Or it could be a bad digitizer

I have had some problems with a couple of the buttons sticking.

I found that I can get function if I do a System reset, but then NOT do the soft reset after the system reset to restore beam receive. If I do the second reset, the error resumes.

I wonder if its time to move on to a new PDA?

Anyone have any experience with Sony's products?

A System Reset restarts the OS without extension programs, such as IR. If you have problems only after a Soft Reset, an extension program is 100% causing your problems.

This happened to me before. I solved it by:
1) Make backups then Hard Reset
2) Move all files out of the Backup directory on the PC, then HotSync. Check if OK.
3) Copy files back to the Backup directory in small groups, then HotSync. Check if OK.
4) Repeat (3) until the problem re-appears.

I got to group R-S-T before I found my suspects: RaceFever or SpaceTrader.

No need to spend money on another PDA!
