Since Good tech has said that they will eventually update their software, I thought it might be a good idea to get a wish list going for possible new features for the new version of the Desktop software. Besides support for other sound formats like WMA etc, I think it would be great if they added support for importing files from network drives, Uploading to a designated folder instead of just the desktop, the ability to store other types of files on the module like docs & programs (with 64 mb available this would be really great!), and a cable for auxiliary input so you could use the player on a home audio system or boombox. Anyone else have ideas?

How about MAC SUPPORT?

I wish to hell I could figure out why it is that certain module manufacturers, like Good, don't/can't/refuse to support the MacOS. They wouldn't really have to do a lot to make the SoundsGood compatable with the Mac - really, all they need is a plug-in for SoundJam or Apple's new iTunes. Both of these applications already support direct interface with other stand-alone MP3 players, such as the Rio and the Nomad. They wouldn't necessarilly have to port over the Good Desktop application if there's an existing application that does the job.

One of the primary reasons I bought a Visor (Prism, in my case) was Springboard expansion and the ability to use a module like the SoundsGood. I nearly lost it when I found out it was only compatable with Windows. (Sure, I could get the MiniJam. I could also poke myself in the eye with a sharp stick.) Good got the design on the SG perfect - it's exactly what an MP3 springboard should be. Now, if they can just bring us Mac users in on the fun...

heh - glad to see someone feels my pain as well...serial with a goofy form factor - as if.

i wouldn't know what the Good desktop looks like - it doesn't run on Mac.

I agree with critic. No Mac support for the SoundsGood sucks! I'd stick myself in the eye before going to a PC. read my rant at

I was wondering if anyone thinks it would be possible to add a voice recording function using the visor mike to the player. Also, I appreciate all the posts so far, and obviously there should be Mac support for the soundsgood, but even if they released a Mac version of the current software, it is a really basic program. Can anyone who has actually used the software make some comments or suggestions? If we get enough good ideas perhaps I can forward the link to this thread to Good and maybe we'll see some of them come to light! I wasn't trying to start a Mac good/PC bad type of thread!

an ACTUAL suggestion

The MusicMatch software that comes with the SG supports attaching lyrics to the MP3 files - it would be nice to see the lyrics along with listening to the music.

Went to SoundsGood Support (Good Technology) and they passed this on -

you can already do the word, power point etc. storage from a email they sent me:
"Here is an undocumented trick.... Rename a nonmusic file such as .doc .xls or .exe file extension to .mp3 (lower case), move it to the SoundsGood (it won't play of course) then at your second PC, select the file in the Good Desktop and right click and Upload and Move It. The song will be uploaded to the Desktop of the second PC. Rename the file extension back to what it was originally on the first PC and you've moved the file between computers. Cool! Not a perfect solution but nice if you don't want to take your laptop home to move files."

Already can transfer network music files to SoundsGood -
but you have to try it from drag and drop with both Windows MyComputer and Windows Explorer to see which one (maybe both) will work. Had problems once transferring files but it might have been because of network admin rights on the user session i was using. Switching between MyComputer and Explorer will work one way or the other. You open the Good Desktop and then with alt+tab insert MyComputer or Win Explorer into the same frame as Good Desktop and then drag'm over to the Good Desktop playlist area (white part) and it works for me.
