Hello, I've had my Visor for a week now (since last Sunday). I've gotten two scratches on it already, one really small one about a millimeter on the normal viewing area, and a huge one about 3-4CM long in the graffittit area. They are only visible when you hold it with a certain angle though. But, when you put the Visor screen in direct (as in you can see your reflection and the light's reflection) you can see tens on tens of "microscratches". I'm assuming this "micro scratches" are normal right? I mean--your Visor's screen isn't pristine all the time right? I ask because I wonder if I should contact HandSpring about a new Visor shipout if my screen is mediocre or something (screen didn't cure?). I do not mean to take advantage of Handspring's generous policy on screen replacements--but if something is wrong--and I can fix it than I want to do it. I do not use any form of screen protection.

Thought I'd relay my experience, Vinny.

I bought my BVDx and beforehand had read all about the screen scratches - this was early January. So as soon as I received it, I covered the graffiti area with Scotch Magic (green case) tape. It works like a charm and makes the writing area feel "papery."

I also invested in the PDAPanache Custom Deluxe. I really like the stylus (though the tip came loose)! Anyways, I thought that the stylus would not scratch like the factory stylus. I'd heard the stories such as dust causing scratches, etc., but I'm always careful to clean my Visor w/ a soft cloth before using. Needless to say, I've still experienced quite a few scratches - nothing horendous, but enough to notice. On all of the postings regarding the subject, responses are always something along the lines of the "dust causes the scratches," etc. I think it's definitely a valid point, but seeing as how I'm careful to clean the screen, there has to be more to it. My point is this - If you don't want any scratches, buy some WriteRights - check BestBuy or CompUSA. I've heard they can cause some glare and they are pricey (~$25), but I guess that's the price you pay for a beauty of a screen. I personally am going to see if my screen gets much worse; if so, I think I'll call customer service. I just can't justify paying for screen protection - I mean, I don't cover my keyboard for my computer and I surely don't cover my couch with plastic!

One more thing. In comparing my BVDx screen with my Dad's Palm Vx - it seems the Visor screen is "softer." His screen does have some scratches, but not nearly as many as mine, and he's had his quite a bit longer. My final point of this rambling is this - I think the screen "could" be more resistant. Again, not a big deal, but it can be frustrating.

Well, if your willing to pay 7 cents at Wal-Mart for some vinyll and you've got a little bit of time and patience, you can make your own screen protector (pretty comparable to getrights)

I recently bought a Visor and read about the scratches and related issues after the fact. In that time I began to notice a few scratches, nothing major though. I do agree that the stock stylus sucks but haven't bought any other. In the meantime I considered all options and decided to REFUSE to spend $$$ on write-rights.

I bought a transparency sheet (cost: $0.25), made a rectangle on MS Word (I'll be happy to email that document to anyone) using the dimensions of 8.1 by 7 cm, printed it out, stapled it to the transparency, took a metal ruler (cost: $3.20) and a cutting blade (cost $ 1.00) and precisely cut a screen cover out of the transparency. Seems to work fine although on ocassion I have to press the stylus a little harder. People spoke about a "glare" and I haven't really found that to be a problem.

Just my 2c. I know others have used transparencies with quite a bit of success.
