Unhappy

I had my Visor synching with Outlook working for a while w/o any problems. Then, I got a MS Intellimouse for Xmas. It's the mouse with a wheel on it. After I installed the new mouse driver, my hot sync stopped working. Although it may look like the MS mouse hijacked the serial port, it's a PS/2 mouse. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the hot sync manager multiple times. I've tried switching COM ports. I've even uninstalled my modem. As a last resort I will uninstall my mouse and see if my theory is correct.

Have any of you dealt with similar problems? I've talked to HS tech support but aside from showing me the HyperTerminal application, they couldn't help me with this issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

I know it sounds weird, but the first thing I would do is a soft reset on your Visor. It may be that your HotSync problem has nothing to do with your Intellimouse. Sometimes they just stop syncing and need a soft reset. It can't hurt.

I've tried the soft reset also. It's very wierd. I changed the the system mouse setting to a standard PS/2 mouse, but the wheel on the intellimouse still works and my visor still can't see the hot sync manager. I don't know what else to try.

I also replaced my mouse with a MS product after I had installed and used Palm Desktop. I have the trackball with the wheel. I have had to reinstall my com port and also disable my Opti-Ups software. I haven't had to reinstall the port drivers lately, but every time I want to be able to use the Hot Sync feature I have to make sure the Opti-Ups is disabled (They share the same port because my machine only has one 9 pin slot on it)Before I installed the Trackball I didn't have to disable the Opti-Ups, I just had to switch cables. I am not a tech, so I'm not sure where the conflict lies. try going in to your system device control panel and reinstalling the driver for the port you have assigned to your Hot Sync cable (you'll need to treat the port as a "new device" and follow the prompts- I found that you didn't need to have your computer search for a new device. Someone can correct me if I'm mistaken, but I don't think that you can screw up anything by reinstalling the port.
Good Luck!
Michael
