Cheap case for 2.99

Out of sheer curiosity, I ordered this case- well, pouch, really! (I also ordered the reduced price travel software- Landware's Gulliver personal Travel Assistant for $4.99- also a good deal!)

The pouch is Neoprene and very simply made. It is streamlined and just the right size for a Visor Deluxe in the slipcase or with a snap-on or flipping cover. Because there is no stiffener or additional protection for the screen, I would feel safer with the snap-cover or something in place.

There is a leatherette tab with Velcro to hold the flap closed, and there is enough Velco there to allow a tall module to remain in place- it might even fit around an antenna, etc.

The purple and green 'iGo' logo is on the lower edge of the front of the case. It is rather obvious, but smaller than a dime, so it is not too bad- and it is not too badly designed.

The beltloop is quite cool. It is a fairly standard plastic clip-style design with a small locking device that flips up and grabs the lower end of the clip to lock the case on your belt. Not the most durable design on Earth- but perfectly adequate for most users.

The entire package, with my Visor on board, slips into a pocket reasonably comfortably also- the belt clip is fairly low profile. (The clip would exert some pressure against the Visor, so I'd be sure to position the screen away from the clip).

Quality of construction: The stiching is solid and neat. I could not locate any flaws in mine.

Durability: The Neoprene is a bit thin and somewhat stretchier than, say, the inCase clamshell case, but I think it would hold up well enough to justify the price. Moderate waterproofedness because of the design and materials. I think this case would be moderately dirt/dust resistant as well- it closes up pretty tight over my Visor.

Compares to: This is most like the inCase Neoprene Sports Case (also sold by Handspring and Franklin Covey). This case is thinner (both in design and material thickness), smaller- more like an 'envelope' than a 'box', and the belt attachment is quite a bit simpler than inCase's cool strap and buckle design. The iGo lacks the small ring or the 'rubbery griping sides' of the Sports Case, but then again, it is only $4.99/$2.99 on sale compared to $24.95.

Service: iGo shipped it within a week of the order. I had no need so far to contact customer service.

Overall: For $2.99, well worth it just as a back-up case or for situations you do not want to use your regular case. I would trust it less for a main case, but I have no complaints!

By the way, the iGo case also fits the Stowaway keyboard like it was made for it. There is just a slight unobvious gap in the two upper corners where the flap does not q-u-i-t-e cover it, and the fabric is stretched a little (but, then again, it claims to be able to 'stretch to fit' most PDAs and so on!)
