Question

I ran into a friend this morning that has a Palm IIIxe and the Kodak Palm Pix. I was a little jealous, I kinda wished I had an Eyemodule, but don't because of the picture quality.

Anyway, he snapped a pic of me, and then beamed me the Palm Pix software and the pciture. I can view the picture on the screen, but it looks horrible. It looked much clearer on the Palm. I assume something with the grayscale. But what I really wanted was to get the picture out of my Visor and onto the PC. I did a hotsync, but I can't find the picture anywhere.

Because I don't know anything about the use of the Palm Pix, I don't know if I need software to get the pic out of the Visor or what?????? Anyone know. I really wanted to check out the quality vs Eyemodule pics I have seen.

TIA
Ryan

Yes, this is a known bug, first notice with AvantGo. PalmOS 3.3 can handle 16 levels of grey, while the Visor's 3.1h can only handle 4. There does not seem to be any work around.

As far as exporting your picture goes, it won't be backed up if you do not have a conduit for it. You can get around this by using something like BackupBuddy or BackupAll. But you still will just have a pdb file on your computer, not a jpg or something.

Thanks for the advice, I went and checked Kodak's site, and found the conduit for download. Got the picture out and wow, it blows the EyeModule away. Check it out.....

I don't know what quality this was taken at, but he did mention there are different settings like the Eyemodule.

If the Eyemodule could take pics this size, in focus, and maybe had 8megs for pics/programs, I would be first in line.

Ryan, watch out... now some people even know how you _look_ like

BTW, the picture quality is impressive... I thought I read somewhere that Kodak is thinking about a PalmPix for the Visor. But I don't want to spread any rumors...

Have fun,

mc9

No, I thought more like an 'head money'(?) kind of thing ... I guess some people might be 'at WAR' (pun intended) with Ryan...

Just to let you know...I have a patent on that little chin-hair thing you've got going there! You've obviously copied my "Chin Protection System" and will be hearing from my lawyers, once they get done filing frivilous lawsuits elsewhere!

The Visor can do 16 color gray just like most Palms just fine. The problem is I think it needs software to do it that may have to be aware of the Visor. I have a program, AlbumToGo, that you can take a jpeg file and convert it with a windows conduit then put it on the Visor and it looks nice in 16 level grayscale. There is a HUGE difference in this mode compared to 4 level mode. Maybe you just need the Palm Pix software updated for the Visor? I would think it should work just fine on it, this software does and is not designed for the Visor in particular.

Unhappy

Right on, Babylon5!

Looking at pics in AlbumToGo do look pretty good but using AvantGo...umm...is that a man or woman in Joke A Day?
