Okay, I know how to back up my datebook and address list and all that, but how do I back up things like databases? I'm using HanDBase, and I've got a lot in it that I don't want to lose. Can anyone help? Thanks!

If you want to do it with a springboard, order a backup module.

A program you will HAVE to have if you want to do it in software is a program you can find a demo of on palmgear.com. it is called backupbuddy. This program really should have been built into the hot sync manager by default. it is a MUST have additon to your palm.

To Quote the description file:

"While your Palm(R) applications automatically back up every time you perform a HotSync(R) operation, this may not be true for every third party application you've loaded onto to your Palm organizer. BackupBuddy ensures that *all* of your data is backed up the next time you press the HotSync button and will quickly back up every application, not just the Address Book..."

Chris, did you order the Visor without researching it at all? I mean everywhere it says that a backup module is out. Plus the base apps that come with your Visor backs it self up everytime you synch with your computer.

The backup springboard does a complete backup? Not just the base apps?

I don't have a backup module but from what I have read, yes it backs up EVERYTHING. It simply copies the 8 megs of ram from the visor to itself. Takes about 10 min on a fully loaded visor from what I have read.

Be careful with Back up buddy if your super loaded on your unit. In my experience if your unit (my experience is with a 2mb palm pro) is really close to full sometimes the backup procedure can "hang" and your left with zippo. Please make a backup of your backup periodically just in case. In my experience i had to do hard resets because of a fatal error that caused blinking and the inability to do a regular reset. (a hack was the problem) It seems that with my unit -which had less than 200k free- that i needed more memory availible free -even if i left 400k to load 2 programs close to 200k. post if you want more detail.
