Is the visor already Mac-compatible?

According to the Visor folk, it should be Mac-compat out of the box (no third party purchase required for sync software/peripherals).

USB cradle for syncing, so as long as the software is included (and they've said it would be) you're compatible with the newer Macs that have USB ports. Or older Macs that have had USB ports added, I guess.

Two notes from Handspring's newly posted Visor details page should help flesh this out:

"Expense and mail synchronization on the Macintosh are only available through optional, third-party solutions sold separately." (these seem to be the only 'unsupported' features for Mac users)

"Serial cradle option available for systems without a USB port."

Those "unsupported" Mac features ... weren't they also unsupported in the Palm? I'm not sure that this is any different from what a Mac/Palm owner was seeing up until now.

Given the importance of e-mail for a handheld, it is hardly plug-and-play Mac-compatible if a third party solution is needed.

Arrow

You need to order separate software from 3Com (or now Palm Computing again) to do even basic synchronization.

But I don't disagree with the sentiment voiced so far. E-mail syncing is certainly a key feature. Is there a standard product base (for e-mail) they could be supporting on the Mac?

Maybe I misunderstood but, I thought it said it was compatible with Eudora. It also includes the equivalent of the MacPac on the included software disk. So, if it's Mac compatible and Eudora compatible, it's possible you can synch Eudora Pro (Mac) with the Visor.

In order to get your email to the Visor, you will need a conduit. The MultiMail conduit will sync with either Eudora or Outlook (I use it with Entourage). Eudora does not currently have a conduit for the Mac.

I was quite confused when you agreed that this would be funny then found the thread and then didn't post to it. So I took matters into my own hands.

I, Ashmed, hereby denounce all credit given to myself for finding this thread. I did not. Thunderbird291 did.

That better?

hehe.
