Well, I got my Symbol bar code scanner in the mail yesterday. This was definitely an impulse buy for the "cool" factor, but now that i have been playing around with it, I am realizing some of its potential for organizing just about anything.

The one question I have: Is there any software out there now that will allow you to use this scanner? it comes with a "test" application and thats about it.

I've not seen any third party stuff yet. Symbol is not ready for the consumer market yet, IMO, though. The current incarnation of the module is more tailored to the corporate environment which already has an internal software development team. About the only thing I could suggest would be to keep an eye on Palmgear and any other shareware sites to see if someone comes out with some consumer software.
