Is there any way to repair scratches on the display screen? I just got a scratch on my Visor and it is very annoying.

I decided to give Screen Clean a try --- both for my PalmPilot and my Visor (which got some minor scratches in the graffiti area when I used the wrong nib on a multi-function pen/stylus).

This Screen Clean product did not work at all! My PalmPilot and my Visor showed no removal of scratches. I have tried applying it multiple times to no avail.

I don't plan to ask for a refund but I am going to suggest to PalmGear that they should not sell this product as I think it harms their reputation. One of the reasons that I decided to try it was because PalmGear sells it.

I too had a couple of annoying scratches on my new Visor screen in the Graffiti area. I found that a dab of Turtle Wax Auto Polishing Compound takes the minor scratches right out! I tested the polish out on a 2-liter bottle beforehand to make sure it wouldn't haze the screen any. The plastic used in 2-liter bottles seems much softer than the Visor screen, which I thought would be a good test.

I have a small deeper scratch that is still there, but it is not quite as annoying as it used to be. I may get brave and work harder on removing that one scratch, but I can live with it for now.

I noticed that the stylus didn't feel as nice on the Graffiti area after I polished it up, so I put some carnuba wax on the screen. It is now nice and slick, which I prefer over a "pen and paper" type feel. Also, I think that the wax may help protect the screen from possible future scratches somewhat too.

I had been very carefull not to scratch my screen, but the darn stylus had a small
"feature" from the molding process that got
to the screen before I noticed. I've since
smoothed the tip of the stylus, which will no longer do any damage.

I found a couple of long scratches along the right side where the scroll bar pops up. I think they were caused by the stylus when I used it at an angle. What I'm going to do is find a piece of soft and flexible plastic that can cover the whole screen, including the grafitti area. That should prevent further nicks and scratches.

In the meantime, I put a piece of Scotch tape over the grafitti area to prevent that part from getting scratched.

I'm annoyed about it. I'm going to look for another stylus.

I think you can get Handspring to replace your Visors sinc the stylus that came with it did the damage. It's worth asking.

I just stumbled onto this thread tonight after receiving the "Screen Clean" product from Palm Gear earlier today. I just want to add one more thumbs down vote. It did not make a whit of difference on my screen. The scratches, which are there as a result of the cheap stylus, are annoying. I will try one of the alternative suggestions.

I'm giving "thumbs down" to the original Visor stylus also. After using a PDA Panache Black nail with my Pro for a couple of year, and never having made a single scratch on it, I bought another for my Visor.

The Visor either comes with a poor quality stylus, or the softer screen is much more susceptible to scratches.

BTW: For a long time, folks have talked about using Rain-X on their Palm screens. Never tried it myself, so I can't comment much on it's usefulness or safeness.

For those getting scratches on your screens, I think two things could prevent further damage:
1. "hone" your stock stylus on a pair of jeans or similar cloth before using it.
2. Us a very light touch when doing Grafitti. It hardly takes any pressure at all.

I've had my Visor for almost 2 months now, have used the stylus that came with the unit, and have had no scratches.

I've been having a relatively good experience with my handspring, it's a great gadget and I have recommended it to many people.

But I was also duped into buying Screen Clean from Palm Gear HQ. Screen Clean promised to remove 99% or the scratches, but it removed none.It left a thin white residue in the corner of my screen which is difficult to take out, and offered to place to complain.

Does anyone know how much a new LCD will cost from handspring? I'm not going to buy yet, but in the near future, it's a possibility.

Ressurecting this dead post, I have to say, I tried scott's Turtle Wax Polishing Compound on my very minor, yet very annoying scratches, but it had no effect. I tried multiple times, but there was no noticible change.
