Handspring's Battery Life Propaganda

I had already noticed that in Handspring's recent e-newsletters, the user stories have pretty much stopped featuring Visors. Now the next phase in their Evil Plan to convince me to give up my VDx has commenced....

This morning's issue of the e-newsletter featured tips to "Extend Your (Battery) Life":

Why yes, if I got rid of my word processor, spreadsheet, dictionary, thesaurus, etc ... I wouldn't even need a Springboard ... & I suppose the battery life might be extended. On the other hand, my VDx would sorta be useless to me. (And just think how much battery life I could save if I didn't even have a PDA!!!)

An actual newsletter?

No kidding. You got an actual newsletter from Handspring?

I haven't received one in months. When they stopped coming (with no changes made on my part such as new email, request to unsubscribe, etc.). I made a couple of tries at signing up again.

All I've received about a week ago was a letter announcing that ringtones were now available. Great news for a dedicated Visor Neo user???

I've even made a purchase on my Handspring account about six weeks ago. Still no newsletter. I honestly thought they died.

Anybody else get a regular newsletter?
What's the secret?

Perhaps it's caught as spam and removed before even reaching you..

I don't think I've gotten a SINGLE newsletter from them ever since I registered.

I get mine regularly - but don't read them much since HS is out of the PDA market. I guess that your junk filter just considers Handspring SPAM.

I get two... one through my Yahoo spam-dump account and one to my Earthlink account. I didn't read this latest one, though, because they're not going to tell me anything about conserving battery life that I don't already know after almost 6 years...

I get my Handspring newsletter regularly. Keep hoping they will tell me about a new Prism 2. See I do have a sense of humor.

Prism 2 would be nice ... but I'd be happy with anything that had a Springboard slot. I would probably even buy one of those Graffitti-less abominations if it had a Springboard slot.

I've been pondering whether it'd be practical to hack a Treo 90 screen into a Visor Pro, myself. The Dragonball should support it, though it may take some work to get all the video lines out, but I suspect that software would be the killer.

I haven't received a newsletter in at least 13-15 months. I used to get them regularly and then they just stopped. They don't go into my spam mailbox because I actually review items there periodically.

My last e-Newsletter from Handspring was in August of 2001. I wonder if that had anything to do with my starting to rant about HS on this forum and to their email. I keep signing up for the newsletter hoping to win something (first an edge and then a treo 90 - heck, I'll take a free one!).

My last visorcentral.com ezine was April of 2002 where James offered this thoughts on "The Future is Treo." Uh-huh. Well, not my future. Now that refurbished Prisms are no longer available, and I have given up hoping for a Prism 2, I just pray my Prism keeps going and going and going...

Ah. Well, now I feel really ignorant. My quote was wrong and I'm uninformed about well-known persons. Great, VisorCentral used to make me feel *good* about myself...

...I would get the Personal Massager for a quick pick me up, but it being a third party module and all, Handspring would probably advise against for the sake of battery life!!

Handspring Newsletters

I completely agree as well. i used to geth the newsletters pretty regularly. But they have pretty much stopped now. What a shame. When I recently went shopping for a new cell phone, I considered getting the treo 300 from sprint, but I realised that the samsung s105 was FREE with a full 65.000 color screen and more pixels on the screen then the treo. So what's the point in paying $300 for the same GPRS service features on a much clunkier and cheaply build treo? I went with the samsung. Amazing colour screen with fabulous stereo polyphonic ringtones. Treo just sucks compared to some of the new sleek and compact colour offerings out there today.

About S105

The Samsung S105 supports over 65,000 colors while the Treo only supports 4,000. The S105 also has higher density pixels, creating a sharper looking screen. It also has an IR port for communication with other devices.
