power pda users!!!

to all visor power users i have a questions for you pls help me cuz im just a new user of pdas. Why do visors have datebook and datebook+? Whats the diff. between the two???anybody who can help me and explain the ins and out of these two apps. and whoever uses them both pls tell me your experiences thankssss

Datebook+ is basically a version of Datebook 3. This program has more features than Datebook but still reads and writes to the Datebook database. The reason that both are present is that Datebook is necessary to create and manage the database and is a part of the Palm OS while Datebook+ offers additional functions.

If like many people you are concerned about the memory used by having two programs with the same unction, do not be. Both reside in ROM, the memory on a Visor that you cannot modify. They therefore do not take up any of your RAM where you store programs and data. Since they both use the same database, there is not problem there either.

Personally, I use Datebook+ because it offers some different views of the calendar that I find useful.

One feature missing from Datebook+ is the ability to beam data. That's why the regular Datebook is still there.

Catagorize...

I use Datebook+, and the way I keep from becoming confused is by keeping Datebook+ on my Main menu and relagating Datebook to the Utilities Menu, so I seldom see it.

Put Datebook in "Unfiled"

If you put Datebook in the Unfiled category, you will not see it unless you select a "view all" or "unfiled" view for applications. Then, when you need to beam an event, you know where it is, but you don't have to see it unless you want to.

For me, the problem is harder, since I use Datebook 4...I have the original Datebook, Datebook+, and Datebook4 that I have to keep track of...

If you are using the standard palm launcher application, you can use Invisible to hade unwanted programs. I do this with Datebook, Welcome, and a couple of others.

Datebook+ has a great view - it's the last one in the little list in the lower left-hand corner. It displays all your appointments, with the full name, out into the future, on one screen or as much as will fit, after which you can scroll down.

So it lets you see your week/month/year at a glance - no view in Datebook lets you do that!
