Heard about it from CNN (via Pointcast) on Sept 15. Ordered BVD on the 18th, took 2 months to the day to receive, but worth it.
My Sharp YO-500 died at the beginning of Sept, and took all of its entries (3 yrs worth) to its grave :-(

I might have the most interesting answer so far:
I got an email around Sep 12 from a random stranger who saw that I had bid on ebay for a palm iiix. The email suggested I check out the visor because it was 1)cheaper 2)better. He included a link to 2 reviews. Maybe Visor Central, and Palminfo Center? I don't remember.
I would have ordered on Sep. 14 but didn't realized they were taking orders only by phone.
The wait was excruciating, but now that its here I love it.
Did anyone else get this email? Who in the world was it? They denied working for Handspring.

Wow.
I'm outta place.
I wasn't in the market for a PDA. But I saw an article in PC Magazine about it, thought it was interesting, but didn't care much. Then I had to buy a new years inserts for my Franklin Covey planner. But I thought the +$100 cost ridiculous (I'm a student, and in Canada). So I looked around for alternatives.
What could be more cost saving than a $300 PDA instead?! It piqued my curiousity, and I was sold.

Like several other posts above, I started following Handspring when it was formed. I guess I first heard real info about the Visor on a ZDNet article back in September.
I'm not hung up on the colors, but I'm starting to get a little sick of the iMac influence everywhere (and my VDx is green).

I know I read about it in Sept on the cnn.com site, like many others, but I also have this vague memory that it might have been mentioned on Morning Edition on NPR first...or I could have dreamt that, since I was probably only half awake at the time...anyone else remember this...I think it was also in the context of 3Com spinning off Palm.
