I've switched over to recharchable NiMH batteries. I know that the Palm software is set to indicate the charge left in alkaline batteries. I've read in the discussions that downloading BatteryInfo and changing the settings is a way around this (though it's not recommended).

When I downloaded BatteryInfo it allows me to select one of three battery types - alkaline, NiCad or lithium. It doesn't give me a setting for NIMH.

I used the NiCad setting and it's showing a 100% charge. Is this the correct setting to use?

Thanks,

Patrick

You probably have a pre-3.5 OS, that would explain why you don't have the NiMH setting.
However, I believe the NiCd voltage curve is very similar to NiMH, so the best setting for you should be NiCd.

Lightbulb

Go to the Handspring web site. Click o software links. Go to the bottom of the page and click on ZDNET. Type in battery info in the search box and scroll down a little and download the program. This will let you change your battery setting for NiMH bATTERIES.

I've been using rechargeables in my VDX for about a month now and used the NiCad setting. Works fine. Besides, I finally realized (duh!) that I don't have to run my battery down to the dregs before changing and charging it (it was the Puritan in me), so if you just change batteries at about 50% or so, you'll always be fine.

Watch out, though. My indicator stays at 100% for a long time, but once it drops to less than 100%, it tends to drop very quickly down to half or less.
