Unhappy

I have been trying to download my mail on my visor. I have outlook express. I made it my default mail carrier, but it was also supposed to have the MAPI box checked. I could not find that box, and it won't download. Anybody have a similar problem? And most of all do you have a solution?!

What version of Outlook Express are you using? Older versions won't work properly.

Did you go through the Mail Setup process in HotSync Manager? If so, I assume you set Outlook Express as the mail app there.

Next, see if (under Internet Explorer Properties; right-click your IE icon and click Properties) you have Outlook Express selected there as the program Windows automatically uses for e-mail. In the Properties window, click the Programs tab, then make sure you have Outlook Express selected for E-mail.

In Outlook Express, go to Tools/Options, and make sure you have Outlook Express set as your default mail reader (you already have done this).

Finally, make sure (in Palm Desktop) you have the Mail conduit set to Synchronize the Files.

If it still doesn't work, I'm out of ideas...

Good luck!
Tom

Follow the steps as presented by Tom. They seem complete and similar to what I did several months ago to download email.

Don't worry about the checkbox. I searched everywhere but never found it. Didn't matter, my messages were downloaded anyway.

Ditto what Tom and jmart posted.

As a side note: The MAPI check box that is mentioned is for Outlook Express 4.0x. That feature was removed in OE 5.x (due to some MAPI issues that came up if you had MS Outlook 98/2000 installed as well). You need not worry about it if you set OE 5.x as the default mail program.

Hi there,
I am having similar problems not being able to hotsynch with outlook express. Actually, the first time i synched my visor was over my cousin's house, and everything hotsynched perfectly, including mail, but it was his mail. I've set everything the same at my house on my own computer, and everything synchs fine, except the mail from outlook express. Could this be that I had initially synched mail with someone elses mail? I have followed all the intructions given to the T, but I haven't been able to synch the mail. Any help would be much appreciated.

I've currently got Handspring tech support working on this one for me. It seems certain sub-versions of Outlook Express 5 just don't work.

Exclamation

I had similar problems with Outlook Express. Please make sure that you re-boot after making Outlook Express your default e-mail program, and don't worry about that other MAPI check box, I couldn't check it either. Just make the changes, re-boot, and then try and sync again.

As far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong) you can only sync with outlook... not outlook express...

Do files get embarrassed when they get unzipped?

ToolkiT-

You can sync the Visor to Outlook Express for e-mail. I think for addresses, datebook, etc. plus e-mail you would sync with Outlook (if you don't want to just sync to Palm Desktop for that).

hotsync mail on iMac

Am new to the Handspring. Use Netscape 4.5 for web and mail on my iMac. Also have Outlook Express and IE but don't use them. Can't find any reference to HotSync'g mail on my desktop Palm iMac. Can someone list the steps to HotSync'g mail between my Handspring Mail and my Palm desktop on my iMac? Couldn't find anything in the documentation. Am willing to switch to IE and Outlook Express if need to.

I got emails from Customer Support at Handspring, and they told me that Outlook 5 won't work with the mail conduit. So you may stick with the netscape Suz. Someone else here could probably tell you about how to configure Netscape better. Good luck.
