Lightbulb

I have been trying to get my Visor Deluxe(?) to hot sync with a USB Port Cradle since December 10th. No luck. I have had a Serial Port Cradel on order from Handspring since December 10th. Nothing has been received. They lost my first order and just told me it would be another two weeks before I would get the Serial Cradle. Plus they made me pay for it, refusing to acknowlege any responsibility for their product. Frustration is an understatement. Has anyone tried to use the Visor on a Palm Cradle using a serial port? Are others as frustrated as I?

Doesn't fit.

What OS and equipment are you using? Your computer may not be USB compatible for the Visor (eg. Win2000, etc.).

Thanks. That's what I was afraid of. Nothing is wrong on this end. We have top notch technical folks here. Running Windows 98 Second Edition on a new Dell Laptop. Every suggestion by Dell, Handspring and message boards has been tried. No results.

WayneK,
Hackmaster is the problem. Also, I have found that if you are using a program that uses the IR port (i.e. OmniRemote or PalmRemote) this will also affect Hotsync. go figure. One last comment, USB is not all it is cracked up to be.

It must be faulty cradle if nothing wrong with your computer.

I am using win98 at home and the office. I bought an extra USB cradle when I ordered my BVD. Set up both in less than 5 minutes and both work splendidily with Outlook 2000.

And trust me when I tell you, I am no computer guru.

I agree that there must be a flaw with the cradle. I would try to get Handspring to send you a new USB cradle.

Question

I have both HackMaster and OmniRemote installed. Both work fine with HotSync (except if I try to HotSync while running OmniRemote). Works both with my USB and my serial cradles.

Have you tried activating the USB in the BIOS? Do you have your Palm Desktop software setup to access the USB port? Have you tried removing other USB devices? Swapped USB port? Rebooted both Visor and the laptop? Prayed to the data gods?

AMD chip and USB hub references are red herrings. I have both and the USB cradle and USB cable work fine. Have you tried a soft reset?
