Question

Hi I am curious as to how the visorcentral people and others at the expo used their own visors and modules.

For instance
-did you beam or recieve information?
-did you use stowaways to write reports?
-did you use the eyemodules for pictures in the articles?
-did you use voice recorders to do interviews?
-were any modems used to send reports?

I am really interested in real life examples of uses for my visor that exist at the present time, not just potential uses.

Thanks.

I *should* have used my Visor more, but used it mostly to know the schedule and what booths to hit. I didn't bring my keyboard because I wasn't sure if the others would bring a HotSync cable or not.

I can't wait for the voice recorder modules to be ready to use, as I sure could have used them instad of my mini-cassette one.

We used a Kodak DC215 camera for our pictures.

Hopefully some of the wireless modules will be going by the next conference, and if that's the case, I'll be updating *during* keynotes instead of 4am

The Visor worked great when I sat at Newark Airport for THREE hours on the runway. I started my letter to Delta and played some Klondike.

By the next conference there should be enough modules to really get the most out of the Visor. I don't have a laptop yet, and my goal is to not need one!

I used mine to read my avantgo pages while waiting for presentations to start.:-)

I used avantgo to check times on Chicken Run and The patriot. I saw both movies after leaving the show on tuesday and wednesday.

I work as a tech journalist and I've used my Visor extensively on the go since I got the Stowaway and the Handspring modem.

My native country is Malaysia (yep there's where all Visors are assembled, BTW...but I had to buy mine from the USA- go figure) and I've been using it on my overseas assignments.

For example, when I was in Boston for a Compaq event, I typed out my story (using SmartDoc) on the Stowaway and then emailed it to my office in Kuala Lumpur.

I also use the modem and Proximail to send and receive email from the office.

I also update my AvantGo using the Handspring modem.

It's all possible because of the modem and the keyboard and my ISP's global roaming-enabled Internet access.

I just can't wait for wireless...

I beamed my business card, used a freeware booth finder, billed time, and read "Dead Souls" when things were quiet.

How did you attach the doc file to an email on your visor?

Sorry...should have made myself clear. I typed it out on SmartDoc but I still had to copy and paste the contents into the Mail application to email it off.

However, SmartDoc does allow you to upload a file into an FTP or HTTP server of your choice. Even better, it can save it as a .TXT file instead of a Palm .DOC file. I've done this before, but I still find it easier to copy and paste into a mail program.
