Question

Hi, I have a few questions about Singapore.

I read a little while ago that there is an Internet termial that I can use with Visor at Singapore's Changi Airport. What exactly can it do, and what soft/info do I need on my Visor? I'd like to check my e-mail when I travel there in a few month.

Also I saw a picture of Internet kiosk in Singapore (the booth says www.i-One.Net). How much does it cost to use one of them?

Lastly, is there an area where I can find Visor/Palm stuff or other electronics sold only in Singapore? Kind of like Akihabara in Japan?

Thanks!

Hi Taki,

When I was on the Singapore Airport I did not see anything Handspring related, and trust me if it was there I would have noticed!

The only cool part about the airport I found out is that some of the pay phones have regular jack-plug where you can plug in your laptop or Visor-modem. Also the Internet Cafe had some kind of wireless internet deal...

I think you cannot buy anything from handspring in Singapore yet, you can try buying online....

Hello Taki,

The internet kiosks at Changi Airport are free to be used by any travelers. Check out this article at SPUG.org on how to use them.

Two famous places in S'pore to buy computers and electronics are Funan Center and Sim Lim Square. As for Palm accessories, check out DOML at Funan Center.

Hope this helps!

I was in the Funan Center, but did not see any Hanspring stuff. But then again, it's a pretty big place!

Thanks, ToolKit & R2D2!

R2D2-Have you used the internet kiosk with Visor? The article says OS has to be 3.3 or higher...but in Japan they use Visor & pay phone with IR port to connect to the net, so I'm going to try anyways.

ToolKit, I'm a former daVinci user, too

I have not used the Internet Kiosks before.

If I'm not wrong, the only way to get a Visor to connect via IR (or cellular) to the net is to use IrLink v1.5. This is because the Visor's OS does not have the IRComm feature like the Palm OS v3.3.

ToolkiT, I saw your name when I was reading daVinci World Forums a lot trying to get the most out of my $99 investment(=old 2MB). It worked okay for a while, but since I'm not a programmer I couldn't do much with it other than reading docs(even though converting doc to daVinci foramt was cumbersome) & playing solitare. But I think I appreciate Visor (& HS customer support)more because of my experience with daVinci.

R2D2, I installed IR Enhancement software from Palm so far...I have to do some more research to figure out. I'll let you know whether my "experiment" is successful.

Thanks,
