After looking at the pictures of the 6-pack at http://www.innogear.com/6.htm, I had some concerns about whether the 6-pack LED would interfere with the numerous Visor cases that 'snap-in' at the top and bottom of the Visor (like the plastic cover that comes with the Visor).

Here's the response from Innogear (they replied the same day as I sent my question, by the way):

I'm glad the folks at Innogear considered this in their design...can't wait to get my hands on one of these!!! =)

It's too bad that the RJ11 jack is on the back (instead of the top). If it was on the top, you wouldn't have to take it out a case to use it (depending on the case, that is).

Ditto for the speaker. Small complaint, but if inside a case, the volume will have to be cranked up in order to hear your recordings

all these 'problems' are bearable. what i'm still concerned about is the power usage. the handspring modem, and i'm assuming the MiniJam, modules use the 'battery' design which allows them to have their own power source (bigger module, sticks out back and top..look at Handspring's developer PDF and you'll see the drawings i'm refering too). Infact the Handspring modem requires 2 AAA batteries. The six pack..with the modem AND voice recorder is in the small module design which means all power comes from the visor.
I see people post countless threads on this site concerned with battery life now...can't wait to see them after the sixpack comes out!

Unfortunately it would seem that the Minijam uses the Visor's batteries, giving around 5 HOURS battery life! Bummer eh!
I'm thinking about getting a stand alone MP3 player.

Because the external speaker is not hidden, maybe this will allow the visor with springboard to become a phone dialer (the only thing I miss about my old CE device).

Hello from InnoGear.
Regarding our SixPak design.

This product will work with the Visor snap on cover (both front and back position) as well as the leather cases that use the cover snap feature. As far as the location of the RJ11 Jack (phone jack) and speaker; if we used any other method or design, this single height form factor would not be possible. Sure, you will need to take Visor out of your case to plug in the telephone jack, and certainly the sound will be louder when out of the case, but our goal here was to come out with a powerful combiniation of useful accessories that adds nothing to the Visor form factor (with the exception of a small lighted button that is out of the way of the snap cover). Later on this year we have plans for some cool cases that will be "Springboard-Friendly" so expect to see case solutions from us as well.

Also, a calling to all Palm software developers. We now have a developer form that you can fill out at www.innogear.com If anyone out there is interested in developing software for any of our products, please go to the site and fill out the form.

In the mean time, SixPak development is going very well and we will post firmer dates just as soon as we can. Thanks for your patience and stay tuned!
