Cool

Ran across this outfit and am trying to convince them to manufacture their cases for the VISOR. Sometimes, it would be nice to just change your case color and I really like the clear versions. They are currently only available for the PalmIII, but maybe if others were interested, we could convince them?!?!?

Check out PALMCOLORS

I would have bought a red Visor the second they went on sale instead of the Blue. A red visor would make my friggin day

Cool

My motivation was to encourage others to e-mail the folks so we could convince them of a market for us VISOR types. Frankly, I'd like a purple AND a red case...If nothing else, I would hope that HANDSPRING would look at the cool CLEAR colors that include the back of the unit for future production.

If you would like them to consider manufacturing for our Visors...e-mail them at
[email protected] It only takes a minute

Definately!

the only reason I didnt buy a colored visor to begin with is because of the crappy two-tone effect. These clear, full color cases would be a great addition to the visor accessory list.

Cool

Just found yet another reason why we need these alternative cases. Since my BVDX is now exposed in meetings as it is attached to my STOWAWAY...Sure would like to have something a bit more attractive sitting up there...

Question

Has anybody been able to get a hold of them to find out if they have a time frame for the Visor version (or even if it's in the works?)

Never got an answer out of PALMCOLORS, so I did an end run and sent it to HANDSPRING and suggested they partner with them...a couple of folks over there seemed to like the idea and they are passing it up the food chain...Feel free to do the same

I'd like to see a third-party Aluminum or Rummer case of some sort of hybrid.

Plastic is so...plasticy...

Right On, Homer!

Possibly brushed metal, aluminum brushed colors, satin metals, gunmetal, or even carbon fiber type cases would be extremely attractive, and extremely cool. These would blow Palm V's away as far as aeshetics are concerned (discounting size factor of course).

If you want an aluminum case, talk to Dave Ruigh at www.dave.com. He does one for the Palm III line... be prepared to pay, it's $250 for the Palm III case.

I got an E&B slipper case in medium grey leather -- it completely covers the color of the Visor (which in this instance is blue) -- and the sync thingy is accessible -- so it sits on my Stowaway in the case. Even if I HAD one of these really cool looking cases, it wouldn't show!

(This is either a plus or a minus for the E&B slipper case, depending on your perspective! I actually like the look of the blue Visor and I kind of miss seeing it!)

I can see your point SherylKing. But I still think it would be incredibly cool thing to have a very nice (replacement) case (at least one that is compatible with the PalmV/Vx's, tired of the PalmV/Vx owners bragging about how sleek their machines look). It's like having a really nice car and having a nice leather interior. People walking outside aren't going to appreciate or really notice the leather you have inside the car, but once you step into your own car, aahhh... like having to pull out your Visor once in a while and seeing that nice brushed aluminum, carbon fiber, etc... case, and say... yeah, cool machine...
Although the current visor colors are kind of nice and different, it is still plastic, looks plastic, and looks like it's made in Taiwan (I have nothing against things made in Taiwan, as a matter of fact, it's my country of birth; but even so, I still have to admit a lot of merchandise that comes from there are kind of cheap looking, but then again, that's why the prices are so much more affordable).
Anyone out there besides Dave care to take the challenge of new and cool cases for the Visor? (I am sure there will be many buyers out there - look at Nokia and the tons of replacement face plates available - but then again, there are more people out there with cell phones than pda's).

I think if we rally together, we can do this! I just bought my blue visor deluxe 5 days ago and I do love it. But oh man, if I could have bought a purple one or even purple accessories, I would have done it in a heartbeat! The Visor is such a great product. The colors are fantastic. I sent an email to Handspring and to PalmColors. We will see what happens.

Right now they only have the PalmV case, but it seems like a small enough outfit that they might tool up a visor blank.

here's the review...follow the link at the top (Brano's workshop) to see the cool colours.

Exclamation

FYI - I sent palmcolors an email and got an abrupt "we won't be making anything for the Handspring products" back. What can we do? I have to have purple accessories for my Vdx!!!!!
