Lightbulb

I was just at http://www.dave.com/ and saw the awsome aluminum cases they have made for the palm III series. I thought it would be neat to just have aluminum buttons. What are your thoughts?

Anyways, a while back that guy said he had no intentions on building a Visor case. This contact was thru an e-mail, but besides that he has be known to be quiet.

ah ha!

Quiet, eh?
I sent an e-mail today and recieved a reply within 4 hours (I'd say that's a good sign)

"We're looking very seriously into the Visor, and from the outset,
would like to target a price lower than the III or TRG shells. One possibility
is doing just the top half of the case, and using the oem plastic back.
I think we may be able to do the entire unit, including the buttons, and perhaps
even make all the components compatible with the stock case, each available
separately or as one complete kit. Look for something, possibly by the end
of the year.

Thanks!

Dave"

Oooh, that would be nice. I saw a review of the Palm III one they did somewhere (it was recently, but I forget where). It really does look nice.

Now imagine a Visor like that . . . (drooling)

BTW, this is off-topic. But jgarnica, isn't your signature from the Hitchhiker's series (Restaurant at the End of the Universe, if I remember correctly)?

Well I stick my foot in my mouth. That's great news, and if they would lower the price I would get one.

I e-mailed Dave today, asking if they'd sell me JUST the buttons (I figured I could modify my Ice case if they were slightly too big in diameter for the hole). The answer was no, but here's what else they had to say (BTW, the reply came within 2 hours (WOW)):

We're really interested in doing the Visor, and not only would we like to offer it at a lower price than the III product, it may be possible to offer the pieces individually, so as you suggest, users could start with just the buttons, add the faceplate, then the back and battery door. If it happens, I'm almost certain it will happen before the end of the year.
Thanks for the interest in our products.
Regards,
Dave

I'm beginning to get my hopes up for the holidays already!
