Ok, i got my thinmodem+ yesterday and i connected to AOL and read mail fine. As far as being able to browse the internet or sync AvantGo, i'm lost. AOL is my ISP and BrowseIT does not work with AOL. Do i have to pay for another ISP to use my Visor on the web? What ISP do you guys use? Also, I get a fatal error when i try to run MobileLink for AvantGo. I read a thread here that said something about version 1.0 of FileMover but mine is version 1.2. I assume they are talking about the filemover that comes with the modem. I'm sure about a thousand of you have been down this road before but i'm new to the modem arena. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

AOL

AOl is not a regular ISP. They use a proprietary system. Get a new ISP.

They say in the FAQ for BrowseIt that it won't work with AOL. I know about the AOL software, it works fine but that's the extent of it. I'm wondering what ISP people are using to dial up and browse and sync AvantGo. Maybe i'll try NetZero or BlueLight or something.

I use MSN (but not yet with my Dlx). I have their 9.95 plan where I get 20 hours free month. That should be enough for basic use. If you need more than that, just take someones 19.95 deal.

AOL's Evil Empire

As an AOL beta tester, I can assure you that the palm AOL software does not support true IP connectivity, and will not any time soon. Despite the urging of MANY beta testers on their forums, AOL has been this idea "into consideration" for months now, with nothing to show for it. They are offering an AOL Address Book sync, which is about as worthless as glasses for a blind man, but no actual useful software, short of AIM for other IP connections.

If you want to get online, you will need another account (Juno, Earthlink, MSN, etc.)

Somewhere online is a program which will crack the free ISP's like Juno and Netzero and let you use them with you palm, but you will have to search for it. There is actually a site with an entire explanation on how to do it.

Problem solved!

Problem solved, happy camper here. LOL. The trick is to find a plain dialup ISP that requires no proprietary software. I tried 'em all, including trying to hack around the free ones. I finally ended up with Bellsouth.net (i'm in Alabama). Works great! I'm surfing the net and sending and recieving email. I set up a $9.95/10 hour a month account and that should be fine. Thanks for your help folks.
