Download Palm Desktop updater

Yes there is.

Download the Palm Desktop updater from palm's site. You'll have infrared but... you'll lose USB.

I have not managed to get both working in the same hotsync app but if you make a copy of the Palm directory before you run the Palm updater you'll have two HS apps, one for USB, one for IR.

Hope someone figures to unify them of Handspring finally does that.

Talking I Don't Understand

I just got my Prism this week and figured out after contacting support that I can't hotsync with my PC in my office via USB and at home via IR on Win2k.
Thanks for your reply, but I don't understand how to copy directories and programs on my Visor. If someone would be so kind and to explain this step by step?

SYNCing at the office with USB and at home with IR is possible. I am not sure about the side effects of syncing with 2 computers but there are many threads here at VC going on about that.

If you install the Handspring hotsync utility at work then it will have the USB support.

For your computer at home, install the Handspring CD and then download and install the Palm Desktop Update. You will have IR sync capability but will not have USB support on that computer.

Of course, everytime you sync you have to change the Prism hotsync setup to USB or IR depending on which computer are you syncing with.

The problem I noted in my previous post is that you cannot both sync with IR and USB on the same computer unless you keep two hotsync applications (the Handpring for USB and the Palm updated for IR). But this does not seem necessary for you.

Hope this is clear enough.

Thanks for the directions, I have been scouring the Handspring site, I can't seem the find the "Palm Desktop Update" files. I wish they had a search function. Do you know the URL?

I asked the same question. The answer I got was Chap. 8 on the CD that came with the unit... in the user guide.

I had to go into the SETUP on my Laptop and "enable" the IR... for win2000... to see... it...

I have not got it to work just yet... and while it is cool... it is much slower than USB... and I am just going to purchase a cradle FREE usb cable...
