Blinking power button.

Guys -

Can't remember, but my Edge is at 100% charge, sitting in the cradle all day, but the power button is blink, blink, blinking....driving me nuts...I thought at 100% battery, it was supposed to be solid green...am I wrong?

Question Blinking Light

Hey,

This happens to me too but only when the device is on. Is that the case with you as well?

Yep, an only periodically. For instance, it'll blink for 30 seconds, go solid for a couple minutes, and start blinking again...ok, not it just stopped again.

I did just discover that I had OnCradleOn, and AlwaysOn and just deleted AlwaysOn, but that didn't help.

Check your software

If your button is blinking even though the unit is 'off', check for software that is running. This is most likely to be a hack or something.

I once installed a hack that made my Edge operate continuously and would have drained my battery after a few days. Luckily I noticed before it died on me.

Anyway, if you have an app that refuses to stop running, then it will draw power even though your edge is off.

Dude,

Give us the name of that hack so we can all stay away from it. =)

If you leave it on in the cradle, that's pretty normal. It doesn't operate off cradle power. It pulls current off the battery to stay on, and then recharges the battery.

Boy, I guess I just don't remember my other Edge doing this, thanks for the info!

I figured it out after seeing it happen a few times with Hotsyncs. I'd charge it in the cradle and hotsync later. After letting it sit on after the hotsync, it always blinked for a bit to top the battery off.

well, my own personal theory is that my battery isn't so great in this new edge, as my previous one did not blink all day long.

This one seems to need constant charging as indicated by the solid green light for 5 minutes, then back to charging...my other theory is that onCradleon is causing my Edge to constantly be charged as its draining almost as fast as its charging....

Either way, still love the Red. Always had silver, but the red is quite nice...darker than I expected, me likes!

**Yep, after turning off OnCradleOn (and the edge), it immediately went to solid green in the cradle. **

If you leave it off in the cradle, it shouldn't.

Your 'other theory' is correct.

It was a 'driver' for an ADXL202 tilt sensor. I don't have one but I would like to build one. I installed the hack to see what it's interface was like.

Now if only I could convince a local company to sell me an ADXL202... (I'm in Australia)
