Thumbs down

The Visor is such a cool and incredible device, but the stylus is really sub-par.

With a new device, I figured (correctly) that some of my software might not work, and would crash the Visor. No problem, that's what the reset pin is for. Except the Visor Stylus doesn't have one. It's a single piece, black plastic stylus. It has some ridges where your fingers go, to improve grip, but no reset pin.

Furthermore, the stylus silo is smaller than the Palm III, so I can't use one of my other stylii. I hope to test it with a Palm V stylus today - I'll post the results here.

Question

I heard that you managed to get a Visor in another thread. About how many would you say are already being used out there?

mbergen,

I wish I had your connections! Anyway, does anyone else in your PUG have a Visor, or just you? Did you have to contact someone at Visor, or did they contact you? And I guess my final question is, are you a close personal friend of Jeff Hawkins or Debbie Dubinski? Must be nice!

Question

Hey Mic, to satisfy the lustful questions we all have, how about throwing up a first impressions review of the Visor you have in hand. We all have questions like, how's the screen, how loud is the alarm, etc. In fact I bet a quick post would gather a plethora of questions to structure such a review around. We've all seen the reviews by the media, how about one from someone who REALLY knows the Palm and the tech community that uses it most predominantly?

I too am interested in your overall impressions, and specifically what software crashed the Visor, given that it should all theoretically be compatible.

Since a number of common Hacks have had to be reworked when new Palm models were introduced, it doesn't suprise me that this is happening. (If it happens on normal apps, I would worry though.)
