Best Price on Prism

Hi Everyone,

This is a great forum!

I'm thinking of getting a Visor Prism or Pro for my gf for Valentine's Day. She was pretty disappointed she didn't get one for Christmas, and she's been a good girl, so I think it's time.

I did a quick search looking for the best prices. Unfortuneately, I guess I missed a great Walmart Deal. (Would anyone happen to have a print out of that deal, maybe I could take it in somewhere and have the price matched?).

So, what's the next best deal? I'm going to check out my local Office Depot tonight. I read they may be on sale there? Also, it looks as though Stapes has a $40 off deal on purchases over $200. So, $259 ain't to shabby either.

Anything else will be appreciated.

Also, how is the display really on a Prism? From what I've read, that seems to be the biggest complaint. Guess I'll have to see one for myself to really judge.

Thanks!

brent

If you're in California, Fry's Electronics has refurbished Prisms for $199.

Unhappy if you can find

If you can find someone with the page saved on their computer you can take it to staples and they price promise. That gives you the Prism for $248, then use the online coupon from greatdealz.com to get $40 off of anything over $200 that should bring the brand new prism to about $198 dollars, thats what I got mine for. Hope you can find the page. Good luck.

Hi Brent...

I have a print-out of the page! And the price is $238.86. I was going to go to Staples for the price match, but then I decided to save the trouble and just order from Wal-Mart. I forgot about the $40 off from Staples, or it would have been an entirely different matter. Anyway if you want the sheet, just email me your address and I'll mail it to you in a day or two, whenever I send out my bills. It's a little worn from being carried in my pocket for a couple of days, but the info is all there!

The screen is beautiful! The only complaint people have is it occasionally flickers. It's really not that big a deal, just the kind of thing you would rather didn't happen than did happen.

xzaver is right, the flickering stops when you use that little download.

the color on the prism is great, although the backlight sucks more power. I use Dimmer to control the power usage and it seems to help alot.

Just a question regarding the possibility of Price Matching the OLD Walmart price:

Will a store would price match a PAST sale price...in this case, Walmart had the Prism on sale for $238.xx...however, Walmart's price is now back up to $299.99? Have folks had any luck getting a store to match a printed ad for an OLD sale price? If so, I'm psyched. Just want to know how to proceed and what my chances are...

Many thanks!

I've never heard of anyone doing this--isn't that the point of a "SALE"? Buy it now while it's... ON SALE...?

However, kudos to you for clever thinking and much luck with this endeavor!!

Thanks for the reply, Kelley. To be honest, I don't feel real confident that a store WILL match a past sale price from a different store. However, a participant earlier in this thread mentions the phrase 'price promise' and makes it sound like this could possibly work. Would be great if it did -- but just want to do my research before asking the question of the store...

Thanks again...

You mean going to a totally different store to see...I thought you meant going into WalMart and saying "these used to be on sale, sell it to me for that price." I think you might have a better shot with a different store, although still not sure about it. I'd call and ask about their policy, or try to find out about the specific store's policy on internet or something.
Let us know if it works!

Deb -

I think the best approach would be to NOT tell whoever you are talking to at Staples it is an expired sale price (I'm not advocating dishonesty ;-) maybe "creative forgetfulness" LOL). The times I have taken any web page print outs into Staples they just looked at them and said, "Okay." Of course they may have known whatever printout I was showing them was still in effect (but doubt it...unless they are one SMART employee).

The success of attempting this will depend on whether the manager or whoever you talk to either knows the sale price has expired or double checks by logging on to the WM site. Or whether they just take your word for it and match the price. If you give them the printout and they say it has expired, just play dumb, say you were carrying the paper around for awhile 'cuz you wanted to get it at Wal-Mart, but they were out so you checked Staples...didn't know it had expired, etc. Unless you're really shy about this kind of stuff, I'd say it's worth a try to save $60. Did you get the copy I sent you yet?

And this must be poetic freedom, not a lie, right?
