Question

I'm curious what operating systems Visor owners tend to use their precious babies with.

Here at work I sync to my main workstation running Debian GNU/Linux 2.2, with a 2.2.16 kernel, patched with the USB backport from the 2.4-test series.

At home, I'm also running Debian 2.2, with a 2.2.14 kernel, because I've been too lazy to upgrade to .16 there.

I also run OpenBSD, but do not sync to it.

How about others?

Win 98

I tried Linux-Mandrake 6.0 but gave up on it because I couldn't get it working with my cable modem. Probably my network card. I'm also stuck with a few must have Win apps. One of these days....

With two Palm IIIs and a Visor Deluxe as part of my dev test suite, I'm sync'ing across Windows 95 OSR2 (serial), Windows 98 SE (USB and serial), Windows NT 4.0 SP5 (serial), and Windows 2000 (USB).

Win 98.

I'd use Red Hat 6.2 with it too, but it doesn't have USB capabilities

Cool

I use Win2K on my laptop and that is the machine that I sync with. My wife syncs with Win 98SE on her laptop. I also run Win NT 4, Mac OS 7.5.5 and BeOS just for S&Gs (NT and BeOS dual boot, OS 7.5.5 on an old Quadra 800).

Win98 on my Laptop, Win95 OSR2 and S.U.S.E. Linux (forgot the kernel/version number) on my desktop back home - so I guess I have to get the USB stuff working with Linux, otherwise I would have to buy a serial cradle to sync my Visor with the desktop PC, right?

Sooner or later I will switch to Linux completely, at least on my desktop PC...

We have 2 V isor Deluxes and use both of them with Macintosh computers (iBooks, G4 and PowerBook G3) under MacOS 9.0.4.

Unhappy

I have been synching with Win200. I have had problems galore. I am using a USB cradle and the apps I have downloaded from the internet are just not agreeing with my OS. I am wiping my drive and turning to Win98. I didn't have any problems with WIn 2000 until I loaded my Visor stuff. Now I have registry conflicts and have to wipe my drive. OH well.

Unhappy

Just had my Dell laptop upgraded to Win2K along with Office & Outlook 2000. USB is a snap.
This setup is THE way to go...

Still waiting for an app to allow me to sync via Infrared with Win2K...

Cool

I use RedHat Linux 5.2 (although i've unRPMd and recompiled most of the system so it's not really 5.2 any more) with a 2.2.14 kernel with the backport compiled in. (tried using 2.4.0-t1, but it was too painful to use :-p)
