Lightbulb

After extended keyboarding sessions with my Prism and the Targus Stowaway, I find my battery level dropping below my comfort zone. Is there any way to safely add a power recepticle to the Stowaway to allow the Prism to be powered by the 110v transformer, or Tech Center Labs' "AA" battery box or 12v car power cord while I'm keyboarding? I certainly don't want to jeopardize the electronics of my Prism or the Stowaway keyboard, but I'm wondering...If this is feasible, why isn't someone offering an adapter? Or, how can I make one? Thanks!

I was thinking the same. I establish an "untimed" daily journal every business day, and log daily actions throughout the day. So, of course, much of the day, the Prism sits in the Stowaway ready to accept the frequent entries (and they tend to maximize the "note" capacity. Well, this is very long-winded, but an endorsement of the proposal. A VERY GOOD idea.

Here is a solution for you, it is a little scary though... but if you are desperate. It involves doing a little internal re-wiring... go check out the site attached to this. I think it is fascinating that people are doing this to their expensive toys. You will probably want to translate this to English first... if you are brave enough to try it... and if you are, then let us all know how it goes.

Cool The lesser of two evils....

RocketScientist provided an inspirational example of the extent to which PDA owners will go to overcome obstacles.

I disassembled my Targus Stowaway and found the pins corresponding to the 5.9v charger input but there is not enough space to run two wires to an external connector. I also talked to a marketing manager at Targus about the possibility of developing a version of the Stowaway for the Prism which would have a connector where one could plug in a Prism charger. She thought it was a great idea but the tooling costs would be prohibitive at this time.

I think a neatly engineered power connector in the side of the Prism would handle the keyboard power drain nicely. I believe that Radio Shack has miniature power connectors which match the Prism charger plug. So, who will be the first to do the modification in the US?

Red face

I'll agree. It's an inspirirational and unnerving solution to my dilemna. I'm a Tool & Die Maker, but I have limited courage with the electronics of my Prism and Stowaway keyboard. NYSEBULL met our needs for custom Visor-to-StarTac data cables. Anyone out there willing to satisfy this market of need and offer NYSEBULL's one year guarantee against defects(let alone initially frying my Prism)? May God bless America, (and Molly in Japan), and the Internet. The nimbleness of individuals responding to developing needs amazes me!
