Question Ethernet Cradle Functionality?

Does the Portsmith Ethernet Cradle provide full ethernet functionality? Or is it for just hotsyncing? What protocols does it support?

A read through the PDF datasheet Portsmith provides on their website seems to suggest that the cradle offers full connectivity. I would love to get my hands on one to play with, but their press release gives a price of $199 for the M50x series cradle.

If it really does offer full ethernet capabilities, I suppose it would be a reasonable substitute for a wired ethernet module. Carrying around a cradle just to get your PDA on the net seems a like a bit of a pain to me though.

Couldn't find any other info about the Handspring cradle on their website.

Can't wait to see the VisorCentral review on this one.

The Prism needs a differently shaped cradle. Same goes for the Edge.

When I asked what happened to the Prism I wasn't asking why it woudn't work with the cradles, I was asking why they didn't create a cradle specifically for the PRISM.

I suppose you could modify the cradle for the Prism, just like the GoType modifications previously talked about on VC.

This will be nice, but I would still like to see an ethernet module, so I could use my keyboard at the same time.

cool....but $199?

I have never been real shy of spending a premium price to get a cool gadget....but a $199 cradle for a $199 PDA? Damn. Pretty spendy.
