Can I install programs with the install tool without going through the whole long hotsync process, I have a lot of contact info and Avantgo and it takes a couple minutes to do a complete hotsync, I just want to be able to install a program which would only take a couple of seconds if I didn't have to go through a whole hotsync, any suggestions.

You can setup a customized HotSync to do an "Install-only" type of sync. Read through this tip from PalmGear Tips & Tricks. It explains the necessary steps although they are a little vague. Just substitute the Install conduit where they talk about Calendar.
I've used this tip to setup custom syncs for Install-Only, Mail-only, Calendar-only, and AvantGo-only.

In addition to the previous suggestion, on a unix system using the pilot-link package, you can just use 'pilot-xfer -i' to install prcs and pdbs.

Very cool! I'd been wondering if there was a way to save a variety of customized sync settings. Don't have time to try it out right now, but thanks for the tip!
