I've waited about 40 minutes and the progress bar hasn't moved beyond about 10% for 40 minutes. I'll walk the dogs and see if it does anything, but I suspect a crash. the cancel button doesn't work and I know if I reset, the module will be wiped. Anyone had this happen?

Angry Not exactly that, but...

I'm not sure what happened to mine, it was compacting, and then I think it auto-shut-off'd. Anyways, screen went blank, I turned it back on, and it said the memory module had been corrupted and I had to re-format it.

Needless to say, I was a very unhappy camper. At least it was on the 1st day I got it, and I had backed up to a module previously, so it didn't take too much to get things back the way I wanted them.

I haven't had any problems since, but I also haven't used my backup module since, because I don't want to overwrite it in case I have another problem and want to re-install something. I've lost a little faith in the flash-ROM module.

Angry

Walked dogs, returned to unmoved progress bar, reset and reloaded everything (thank god for backupbuddy - makes restoring things easier at least).

Maybe I should have waited several hours for it to compact but I'm not that patient (and I'm sure it crashed anyway)

Anyone successfully compacted a nearly full flash module? How long did it take?

Question Am I Blind?

It sounds like you are talking about compacting a Flash ROM module. I've got the 8 MB Flash module and I can't find an option to compact. My module is version 1.2.
(I looked at all the File Mover app menus when both Internal and Module were selected. No other app was installed.

I am using the 8Mb flash module, v1.2 too - it auto-compacts when I try to move something onto it when it's pretty full already (about 750kb free) presumably to make more space. There doesn't seem to be an option to do it yourself. If I move all 7.25Mb onto the module at once it's fine, it's only moving something onto it subsequently and it seems to have hung twice now.

Either of you have your visor crash regularly when loading the flash ram module? I just bought my module yesterday and it crashes the visor EVERY time I try to load more than two or three groups of stuff or a large number of files or apps at a time (that's what I was doing the first time it crashed. Since then, I won't move more than is listed on one screen. Still crashes...but not the first time.)

TIA

Pamela

Lightbulb

Do any of you have QuickBits or Trapweaver installed?
Seems to me I remember discovering a conflict between the Flash mod and one or both of those.

I have Quickbits and the new Prism compatible Trapweaver running. I had no problems with Filemover moving multiple files until memory was somewhere below 1Mb and it tried to compact memory, then crash. I'm kind of resigned to loading huge chunks to my Visor c/o Backupbuddy and transferring en mass to the module from time to time - that works fine.
